Only 20% are descended from convicts, the rest came from free settlers who saw Australia and thought "looks great"

You mean from other parts of Europe? Like I've met many 100% and many australians and it's unreal how different you guys look. Australians are always really handsome and have cool personalities whereas brits are like barbarians that trash everything. They are also very ugly
>>

There was a big gold rush in the 1850s where the population exploded from settlers arriving to get rich. New settlers were mostly from Britain, ~20% from the rest of Europe or NA and about 5% from China.

>You mean from other parts of Europe?

There was another immigration boom after WW2 where the rest of Europe came in large numbers to escape the rubble or cold war.

>80% of new jobs are non-market sector
>40% of GDP is from government spending
>Been in a per capita recession for years now
>Record low productivity from importing low skilled Indians
>Economy is built around selling dirt to China and houses to foreigners
>Already had high energy prices causing multiple smelters to go under which led to the government come in to subsidise them at a cost greater than if the government just paid them their wage directly
>Now with the oil shock diesel has skyrocketed so the profit margin of the miners will be strained causing more closures or government subsidies
We're completely fucked
>>
Don't worry, with the rise in natural gas prices we are sure to profit haha

We haven't been in a per capita recession for a year or so I think

>Same faggot PM is the chair of a gambling lobby
Clown country, Australians are some of the most retarded people I've ever met and they actively avoid politics and take pride in being apathetic about it

Don't pay taxes*
>>
>>62012921
56% of our gas exported has no royalties paid, then the same corporations pay no tax on their profits, the only tax they pay is payroll tax, you have politicians like Martin Ferguson the former Minister for Resources and Mark McGowan, former Premier of WA who draft and pass these laws that benefit the same mining industry they then go and work for after they quit politics

taxes are theft so low/no taxes for corporations is good thing, buy shares in said companies if (you) want to profit from them. The money going to the government is not going to benefit (you) at all but browns and parasites.

>>

>>
>>62012903
Truth right here

Australia is fundamentally reliant on mineral/agriculture exports for its actual wealth, majority of the economy is services doing bullshit for each other but that isn't what gives our currency any value, it's resources.

Higher energy prices means higher costs of extraction and logistics as well as lower global demand as global recession takes hold.

Additionally Australia is completely reliant on foreign (typically Asian) countries for oil refining which puts us in a horrendous position considering a lot of that Asian oil came from ME.

Did I mention Aus has some of the highest personal debt to gdp ratios in the world?

We're headed for a serious recession where shit is going to cost a fortune and you're not going to have much money. The worst combo.
>>
>>62012831
So, Mad Max will be a reality?
>>
>>62015277
Nah. In Mad Max they were actually refining Australian oil at Gastown. Imagine Mad Max with no cars.

now that Qatar is out of action we are the worlds largest supplier of LNG
gov just needs to grow a spine and tax the cunts ripping us off
>>
>>62015822
Why are the Australian people (you) so fucking retarded?
Let me tell you plainly - you can't tax your way into prosperity.
>A-A-All the highly developed Western nations have high tax rates! Only developing nations have lower tax rates!
(Ask yourself which ones are currently declining and which ones are actually improving).
>tax the cunts ripping us off
The government is the one ripping you off by stealing your livelihood and using the proceeds to enact policies against your best interests.
Fuck you faggot. Kill yourself.
>>
>>62015919
Gina isn't going to let you hit lil bro
>>
>>62012851
But remember, you still are expected to go to the office and not work from home!

>>62012903
But at least the government is focusing on the real issues, using children as an excuse to lock up the internet and jailing people for wrong think.
>>
>>62012844
It's because they have to fight off dingoes as children so they don't get taken, then when they get older they're fighting 20 feet tall spiders and boxing with kangaroos
They just got better DNA from all that survivaling
>>
>>62012910
>surely if we give the government MORE money they'll fix things
I oppose this gas tax stupidity on principle since I know with 100% certainty that it would never ever be used in a way that would benefit me, but instead be added to the burning money pile that is the NDIS or some other garbage
>>
>>62018082
Because for reference, if you took every single dollar of profit made by our LNG companies in 2025 (approx $50 billion), you'd barely be able to pay the cost of the NDIS for 2025. and that's assuming that you took not just 2% of profits, or 10% or even 40%. You'd have to take every single dollar of profit, somehow hope the government that is $1 trillion dollars in debt is capable of managing that money correctly and not wasting it on admin or spending it on random boondoggle projects, and even then you'd see not a single cent because it'd all be spent on people getting paid to go fishing with kids pretending to have autism.
so don't give me any of this bullshit talk about
>waow we could have high speed rail
>we could fix da hospitals
>we could pay dole bludgers moar
because every damn cent would go towards bludgers, grifters, and people that hate you.

It's because we get more sunlight and have a higher-quality diet thanks to the wide variety of food we can grow here.

Honestly I don't know how English people don't look like cave trolls given they get 2 weeks of sunshine a year and subsist mainly on beans and mudcakes.
>>
>>62017640
They don't box kangaroos anymore they've been domesticated and now the kids ride in their pouches to school.
