Nah fr what the fuck do I have to do to get a fucking job man.

i'm not here to just vent and woe is me blah blah blah but I swear to god my path leading up to this point has only put me at a disadvantage.

went to an ivy league school bc I got a massive scholarship, felt compelled to as people where I'm from don't get that opportunity all that often.

Still had to wait tables to house and feed myself. No time for internships.

Graduate 2020. Perfect timing.

Do what I need to do to make ends meet.

Laid off recently.

No company will give me the time of day unless theres an alumni there.

'underqualified' for most listings bc of unconventional path 'overqualified' for any other job to just make ends meet

95% of job listings are fake.

Fuck me.

Need legit tips. Somewhere to look I haven't thought of, someone's dick I need to suck. Should I start selling drugs?

Find a skill people will pay you for. Stop thinking about what you want; think about what your prospective employer wants.
>>
>>62030385
genius. plenty of skills are had, the issue is finding where to apply them.
>>
are you a jeet that fell for the cs meme?
>>
>>62030360
This is the worst job market probably in modern history. Information is being manipulated at high levels. If you find something stable you better hang on.
>>
>>62030360
feels good that I didn't even go to school, never looked for a job, and still retired by browsing /biz/
>>
>>62030414
no on both counts. i studied/have worked in advertising/marketing. Lots of soft skills, sales, coordination, building systems, planning campaigns. That type of shit.
>>
>>62030397
>plenty of skills
That’s good to hear, but no employer offering the type of job you want is looking for a jack of all trades. Everyone has basic communication skills and knows how to use excel. What single niche skill do you have that you’ve put 10,000 hours into?
>>
>>62030415
bro fucking tell me about it. Stable to me at this point means even a fucking retail job. Can't even find that.

This is probably on purpose. Let the golem struggle ultra hard so that they cherish their golem position once they finally get it and dont try no funny business.
>>
Think if everyone was dumb asf. They wouldnt want s soda theyd want a giga big fucking soda, theyd want burgers the size if basketballs. Theyd want a stripper to serve them along with some weed or beer and then theyd go to the shooting range. The next day theyd see some monster trucks and then some ufc.
Well?
>>
>>62030446
the 'type of job i want' is literally anything that pays. Not looking for a career. Frankly, anything utilizing the skills that I have put thousands of hours into is a waste of time, i.e., diminishing returns. Those things that make me 'special' would be better utilized building something myself. But I digress.

I'm talking about the fact that it seems like I can't even get a job at fucking Starbucks lol
>>
>>62030360
it took me a year and a half and i got lucky some mid 30s burned out had a midlife crisis so now i have a sick job. my advice is redo your resume with ai. focus it on a skill like: regulation, leadership, analytics, instrumentation..etc.
>>
>>62030472
I’m sorry to hear you’re having such trouble finding a job anon. I hope you consider my advice if a year goes by and you still can’t find a good position.
>>
>>62030360
Yeah anon I know, I'm sorry. I too graduated with a bachelors into 2020. Fortunately for me I was the recipient of some nepotism. It's pretty bleak out there rn. I legit think people are soon going to have trouble affording food. Idk what to do about it.
>>
>>62030360
I moved across the country, booked Airbnb, got security guard job, used offer letter to get cheap apt, then got promoted to supervisor literally for just showing up on time everyday and being polite and friendly to my account manager.

In this supposed HCOL city I’m doing completely fine. Rent is $820, total monthly living expenses are about $1600 on the high end

If you can’t find a job it’s because you suck ass
>>
>>62030360
See if ULINE has anything for you
>>
>>62030360
getting a job is impossible now. I applied to 30 positions with less experience and a bachelors years ago and got a job with only two interviews

now im at 300 applied with one interview
>>
>>62030449
same even retail jobs ghost, its kinda wild. But when i walk into any of these retail or shit jobs its filled with mexicans who dont speak english

its insane
>>
>>62030472
you're either going to rape yourself to build skills or get raped in shitty job because you have no skills.

>Frankly, anything utilizing the skills that I have put thousands of hours into is a waste of time
Your skills are based on your talents, and your talents aren't going away anytime soon. They're natural to you, and the advantages you gained in whatever you spent your time doing are highly competitive against those who did not do those things. They will never catch up to you. You got a scholarship for a reason.

I applied for a job at a huge company called Syneos that also scripts and shoots pharmaceutical advertisements. Maybe find a marketing department at a company like that? I mean, I was a shoe in for this job last month. Interviewed, passed their screening exam, and was salivating for that biweekly WFH income again. I've been unemployed since Autumn '24. And I got rejected. The recruiter wanted me in 'cuz alumni and trust and cuz I was fully, unequivocally qualified on paper for this extremely low paying position. But her boss bounced it back to the head of the department they were hiring for, who, my guess is, wants to pick a superstar mindblowing applicant from a ceiling tall pile of resumes? They refreshed the job ad, so that makes me think along those lines. But I don't blame them, they're just greedy right now with a flood of juicy resumes.

Still, a lot of these people don't fucking know how to hire in the first place. I could tell by looking at the shitty work that was left behind by their previous person. Some of the hiring decisions are actually so arbitrary that it's a joke to feel ashamed to be unemployed rn. Companies waste so much money on failed initiatives and consultants. It's mostly all bullshit.

Imagine posting this and not posting your experience and degree. You're either a demoralization bot or so fucking retarded that you don't even know how to ask for help right and deserve homelessness and death by starvation or drug addiction.
>>
>>62033235
not OP but it took me 18 months to find a developer job with a master's degree and 10+ years of experience (6 of those being at a famous buzzword company)
granted that was with no networking to speak of (i'm posting here after all) but yeah just getting to talk to someone without a connection is worse than a fucking crapshoot nowadays
>>
>>62030360
>No company will give me the time of day unless there's an alumni there.
That's how I got my current job. But work at a staffing agency while you're applying for what you want. If you can't land a temp job then you probably have mental issues the state can pay for.
>>
>>62030360
I have a security clearance, I make 25 dollars an hour scanning papers for negros.
>>
>>62030360
Don't sell drugs. It'll just make you hate everybody and then you'll really want to rope.
>>
You fell for the school meme, but you can’t accept your fell for it.
>>
>>62030360
Same boat as you OP. Got laid off almost a year ago and still haven't found a job. People are always telling me to learn new skills while I'm still unemployed but how the fuck do you even do that? Enroll in a cert course? I get told that employers value experience way more so I don't even know if I'm just going to be wasting money in an attempt to "upskill" myself.
>>
>>62033436
Most jobs value experience yes. Personally every job I have ever gotten (6 since 2022, including 4 contract positions on top of 2 full-time jobs) has been due to me lying on my resume about my experience. I was an unemployed college graduate since the end of 2020 before I got my first real job 15 months later.
>>
>>62033531
I might have to start lying in my resume and interviews then. Fuck this world, it never pays to be honest.
>>
>>62033235
I am not going to dox myself on fucking 4chan lol.

>>62033228
You are right. At the end of the day its just a numbers game I suppose but fuck me it's just so insane.

>>62033388
I would've really fell for it if I actually paid for it. Also checkd.
