ive noticed this too. I dont know if its because i've grown up or the world has devolved into a psychopathic free-for-all (probably both) but it makes me genuinly sick. I am lied to so often and I pretty much always catch it but instead of butting heads I just avoid the person. I had an incident yesterday where some custmer service reps were blatantly lying about something, and I was sheepishly pointing out discrepancy in a non-accusatory way, and they kept doubling down, and eventually tried to gaslight me that I was twisting their words. It's such a mindfuck. The west is over.
