What's the smartest way to just quit work for a year to enjoy life in a way that doesn't completely take my career? Like, I just wanna enjoy my life for a little bit before going back to work
>>62039323your friend creates a fake company and you work for that fake company.
>>62039323HR here. The fact that you are even thinking about this gives me the ick. I'm not sure you're a good fit for our company
>>62039323Learn to scam the whities like somalis
You worked for a company for a year that has now closed down.
>>62039323Start a LLC. Only costs like $50.Just put on your resume that you worked for your LLC.
The normie advice online is just to do a professional sabattical. I'm liking this fake business idea though
I thought I was so smart. Of course retirement is a scam. Work all those decades then maybe you get a few years to yourself, when you are already old and informed? Bullshit. I’m young, I’ve made some money. I’ll do ‘miniretirements’ between jobs. I’ll leave and take 6 months off, then rejoin, and do this every few years, and I’ll get the best of both worlds, free time while I’m still young. It didn’t work out. Stacey got the ick. They can smell non-conformity
>>62039457You weren’t going to get Stacey anyway, and even if you did, the relationship would die out anyways when you are no longer able to entertain her. No sense in slaving away for her approval.
>>62039323Just stop showing up and hope they don't notice
>>62040152Not talking about a relationship. I mean Stacey from HRoasties
>>62040172dynamic is the exact same. why do you think corporate offices are full of women and gay guys?OP you could make up a story about a dying loved one that you wanted to take care of full time to cherish the shared weeks before they pass. just think, if I were a gay guy, what would I have been doing
>>62039323Just quit. Live off your savings for a while. The question is how will you force yourself to return to the workforce after you've experienced the NEET freedom
HR stacies will rape you
Enroll in some online degree program that you can do from home part time and gives you some useful certification. That way you can fuck around most of the week and say that you went back to school for a year.
>>62039323Just lie on your resume so they never ask lmao.We live in an age where indians are defrauding the entire immigration system by lying about qualifications and you are worried about Helen from HR noticing about something like that?
>>62039323its called quitting.been unemployed for 9 months and drawing down my checking account. spent almost 2/3rds. i can prob get away with another 5 months. i could break open my brokerage and do it for another couple years.but ill get a job before then. being unemployed is only fun if you are sheltered.
>>62039323car accident
>>62040810that’s a good one. or
a sabbatical are you female
My last job let you apply to take an unpaid career break for up to a year. Could be possible your employer will let you do the same even if they don't advertise it. The education or fake job things sound okay. Maybe volunteering/charity would work as an excuse too and be low time commitment
>>62039323paternity leave
i did this and iam not enjoying it as much as i want and i dont see myself going back to wageslavery either. so i guess i have no option but euthanasia.
Step one: be unlucky and just don't ahve a career in the first placeb ecause you never got hired to that entry level office job when you were 23 and spent years doing temp jobs or delivery to survive.
>>62039323Take the year, and when you start looking for work again, look up small companies that went bankrupt a few months earlier and claim you were working for one of them. Pick one that's small enough that it didn't have HR.Or just claim you were working construction or some such shit. Kinda depends on what sort of job you have or are trying to get; if it's white-collar they may look down on it, if it's blue-collar they'll just say "ok".
>>62039323Quit to take care of x family member with terminal cancer only has 6 months to live.Create an LLC and put it in your resume that you worked there for the time you were gone
>>62039323Just can just like too. Many companies do not provide references like amazon. What is your future employee going to do call amazon? which? Just make up a position at amazon and tell you worked there.
>>62039323unironically working harder before you quit to ensure you have the resource to fully quit and not half-assed quit and have to go back.
>>62043671Why not? Days blurring together?
I took two years off and now have to get a job again, the music is over. I'm dreading it so much, not the working part, I love completing tasks and solving problems. What I hate is commuting, being around "normies" and having to pretend/blend in. Co workers always dig into your personal life and size you up and what not. I wish I knew the answer, they're gonna ask about the gap and I have no idea what the fuck I'm gonna say. I just lifted, biked, drank, played video games, went on hikes, walks, read books, and relaxed.
>>62043741Ohh so i'm not the only one
>>62039323My bosses were excited for me when I put in my quit notice to live abroad and travel the world. If if I ever do decide to go back to work, it won't be an issue to go back to the same companies. I have no intention of ever working again though. Seems like Trump is trying his best to fuck up my finances.
>>62043936not him but i guess i was in a similar situation. Not that days start blurring but you feel youre wasting time when youre just doing nothing, so you feel you want to start some business but realistically you cant, so emotionsike relaxation, stress, worrying, happiness and sadness become an hourly thing. Crazy moodswings because there is no plan. I guess it would be better if u had a contract that you return to work guaranteed after ur vacation is finished
>>62039323i think if you tell them you were busy beating cancer, they can't legally ask any questions and you can then make the case they are discriminating.
>>62039323op fucking do it, i sold about 5k link from 2022-2024 ND TRAVELED THE WORLD FOR two years.i dont regret any of it. im so glad i did ,especially now that chianlink is at 8 now i have a couple kids around the worldquit and travel.im so pissed now that i'm balding, and getting wrinkly. like i look in the mirror and i say damn thats me now.... time is running out, you can always make money, but your youth and energy is limited.
>>62039323I thought about doing a sabbatical but came up with the realization that there might be no coming back from that once I get used to it. it also seems like a short term fix for a long term problem. I reduced my working hours to 32 per week like 2-3 years ago instead and that pretty much fixed most of my "problems". never quit long term, there is no explaining in the world that can be done to justify a sabbatical. you dont take these if you dont have at least some mental problems.
>>62039323>before going back to workRight here. This is the lie.
>>62044445You need some kind of hobby, then the feeling won't be so pronounced, or it might disappear altogether. If that doesn't help, then you, my anon, have depression.
>>62043671>>62044445make sure you guys are in physical shape.the difference in how I feel after fixing my diet and exercise is phenomenal. it's all hormonal.
I’m 6 months into one and don’t know why I didn’t do it sooner. Granted I have plenty of savings. I feel 10 years younger and quit the bad caffeine and nicotine vices I built up to get through the work days
I did this for 4 years. I took a sabbatical because I wanted to be there with my kids when they where born. Not just take a few weeks off, but actually spend a portion of my life in dedication to the experience. When I went back tp work, part of my cover letter talked about that and the experience and why the gap existed. I had no problem getting a job.
>>62044863>cover letter
>>62044532Yeah, although I might just travel, the u s I don't really see any need to travel the world
>>62039323Just do it, my wife and I have both done it. No one gave a shit when we started looking for jobs again. We were just honest and said we wanted to take a year off to travel and recharge. This whole resume gap thing is completely fabricated
>>62039323Do something cool in that year. Something that normies would think is cool, at least. Backpacking somewhere exotic, beach bumming it in the tropics, hiking the AT or PCT, going on a 'spiritual retreat' at some isolated mountaintop dojo. When (if) asked about what you did during that gap year, launch into stories sure to wow your audience and make them think you're more interesting than you actually are.
>>62040746ThisThey can't check
>>62046004Yeah, I mean, I might just travel from the east coast to the west coast, visiting a bunch of national parks
>>62044553extreme copeMr Golem over here definitely doesnt have any mental problems
How should I list it on my resume if I quit my job in Boston, took a long road trip while moving from the East Coast to California, and then relocated to the West Coast? Would it make sense to describe that time as a relocation period or a sabbatical?
