Lol I can't wait till the japs get anal about missing out on money and they just start printing fuck ton of every card, I seen a video of broccoli head zoomers beating up some fat fuck camping the pokemon machine at the store made me feel good

Americans are in charge of printing in English so it's maximally kiked.
Also printing more kills the value of the card. Japanese already print more the rarest crap (they have some regulation about fairness in toys/cards burgers don't have) and rarest Japanese cards are often lower in price for that reason

Could a pokemon etf be a thing? I know sealed packs in particular have outperformed many assets but most people are probably hesitant to get into it because it requires specialized knowledge and curation.

They way it would work is you sell shares and use the proceeds to buy sealed packs or maybe individual cards that are currently undervalued. A website could list all the items in the collection and their current value. Over time the value of the collection should rise and so the share price would reflect that. You would of course charge a reasonable expense ratio for doing the work of collecting, storing, cataloguing, etc...

An addendum. I suppose you have to start with a decent sized collection as people aren't just going to give you money to buy Pokemon cards with no collateral so maybe acquire say 50k-100k worth and use that for the IPO. Also the share price would be just whatever people are willing to pay it wouldn't be tied to the value of the collection past the initial offer.

I think the idea would be just to buy and hold and never sell or rip open any packs but again I'm not that knowledgeable about the nuance of pokemon collecting so it may be that sometimes its better to sell old packs whos value has increased to buy new pack that will later be worth more.

Im all in pokemon. Cant wait for speculative money to pour in once people realize crypto is a scam.

I'm sitting on large pile of old magic cards. Seems like they're not appreciating in value much more at this point.
Zoomers only care about pokemon?

>and they just start printing fuck ton of every card

just a heads up, Pokemon Company just purchased a massive piece of land, forgot which state, and are going to build a mega card printer, estimates put it operational in 2028. So next 2 years is last chance before pokemon cards start getting printed like crazy, everything from now until that factory is running will be future gold

Magic was always garbage, only people into it are boomers with sunk cost fallacy, the artwork and card quality is atrocious. One Piece TCG came out of nowhere and dominated Magic by just making good art and supreme card quality(feel/thickness)

Not fungible. Not durable. Not divisible. Portable.

Zoomers grew up with Roblox shovelware and aren’t hooked by pokemania nostalgia as hard, the “pokemon hobby” is just money washing for millennials and pedophiles.

I bought my raw copy for 150 years ago and then ended up getting lucky and pulled a 2nd when the card was reaching the 700 dollar range. Still got both of them too, holding for another 10+ years.

you're nuts, kids are pokemon crazy, moreso than the 2004-2020 period. Pokemon has released 2 major videogame hits the last few months in Red/Green re-release and Pokopia and have 2 major AAA games coming out this year in Pokemon Champions and Pokemon Winds/Waves(Gen 10). Pokemon is unique in that the videogames always drive the franchise forward

Makes no sense, just stating facts. Pokemon will have released 4 major videogame hits by the end of 2026. You're just mad Magic hasn't been relevant since 1999

If you’re just going off pure sales numbers yeah, I don’t really see the real life sentiment reflect those huge numbers though. I guess the ‘you’ll buy it anyways’ meme was real.
