Job market is fucked.I work in restaurant management and many of the people applying to entry level roles have degrees, some are in school for their masters. Some have professional resumes and probably were laid off from their corporate gig.Seems brutal out there now that all the Covid money dried up.
i will be laid off in july (3 months notice) but i have 10 years of savings + a paid home house i have a gf and we wanted to have kids but i just dont want to create a soul while still being a wagiei need to dump this bitch that gave me genital herpes
Join the military if you want a job. There are better candidates for corporate positions where you’re not needed anymore.
>>62043160>we wanted to have kids>i need to dump this bitch
>>62043138and here I am PUTing stocks to the ground, slacking off on my SWE job because Cursor can do my daily tasks in 30 minutes and then shitposting all day longyep, it's over fellas, let's go and grow some cabbages
>>62043190now that i decided i dont want kids i realized i dont need her at all
>>62043138Why even make an uglier version of the frog one?
>>62043198you are few months away from being laid off dude, don't be so deludedand ai has nothing to do with it, your job will be done by an indian guy for 8$ per hour thats it
>>62043198If you have a job already you’re probably fine. It seems to be tough for the grads to catch a break which isn’t to say it’s impossible either
>>62043138>economy sucks, especially for white collar >unis are papermills and obsolete thanks to AI, at least that's the sentiment >I know what I'll do, lets get a masters
>>62043138Who else would be working in restaurants but students and grads with no real career prospects? This isn't a new thing lol.
>>62043264lmao factsif i were graduating from high school today id probably bite the bullet and learn a tradeideally something not overly back breaking - electrician, welder, etc.
>CovidYear 3000 AD, Mars, the boss talking to employee:- Do you remember from your history lessons, that 1000 years ago on Earth there was a flu-like pandemic? They called it COVID19.- Yeah, I remember! Nobody knows what COVID means or where the 19 came from. What about it?- Because of it, we have to let you go.
>>62043198The "just slop some out some AI" engineers are gonna be the first on the chopping block. I hope you realize this.>t. engineering manager
>>62043138so what's the context of this image anyway. is the pic of wagepepe and bosspepe meant to be from 20 years ago, and bossjak and wagecobsonis the present day?
>>62043138The weirdest thing is I got hired to a field organizer role for a political campaign making 30 bucks an hour kek.>but those jobs suckBut the thing is I've never had a 'problem' finding work, because all of the accounting jobs I applied to always turned me down so this has just become the norm for me, doing shitty office jobs or working on political campaigns. I've never understood it because the market has never been good for me, and bad for me is the norm.
>>62043377All the zillennials 15 years ago had the same retarded idea, trades are filled up.
>>62043408Im the guy you replied toNah, all devs will use AI coding. What will differentiate them will be those who know theory behind code, can read documentation and instruct right tools well in a way that it will be constructiveJust because you have idiots on your team that cant instruct AI agent, that can’t explain Oauth (or know what it is in the first place) doesn’t really bother me. I out-surpass them and am always ahead of the curve in that aspect. The real person who should be scared is middle management like you. Someone who can’t write a JIRA ticket to save his life because he doesn’t understand the concepts at hand. Someone who wastes time on meaningless meetings that essentially boil down to sentiment akin to your post here where all you do is push on basal human fears of getting fired in order to make them do something. Truly an overpayed overseer. Narcissistic safist at best. And lets be honest, most of the companies structure can be replaced with few people on top making the deals and few people at the bottom executing them 1000x quicker with AI tools. No need for “translator” like you around. And your company politics won’t save you this time btw. So go ahead and try to make me fearful with firing me and people like me, lol.
Nah, market's fine for me. Electrician here, I might not make 8 figures/year like You degreeGODS but I am doing comfy. Calm office 9-5, weekend side gigs and definitely no shortage of work. I swear getting kicked out of college was the best thing to happen to me.
>>62043138I voted for this
>>62043441The picture in the frame is the original. It’s inspired by the movie office space
>>62043522>Im the guy you replied toThanks for letting us know, newfag AI tourist. >NO U REEEEEEI'm not reading all of that. Use your brain: if you show your manager that everything you do is from Claude, why would they continue to pay to keep you around? $17/month is a lot cheaper than salary, insurance and retirement for an adult baby slopping out copypasta.
>>62044476My manager or some indian can't use Claude. They create AI slop unlike me. Now you use your brain. What's stopping a CTO from your company from uploading his business goals and translating them into technical requirements, bypassing you and every other meaningless middle management?
>>62044390Yes but the artistic representation implies that the old pic took place in the past and current wagie is the wagie of 2026.
>>62043138Restaurant workers were always college kids looking to buy food. Same old song and dance.
>>62043138I have a BS and an MS in Engineering from 2 big 10 universities. I cant even get an interview and I’m not qualified for food service so I’m currently living in my car and languishing.
>>62044772>from 2 big 10 universitiesThe only reason to go to University is if you have family connections which have a job ready for you post-graduation OR if you have high charisma stats and join a fraternity to build connections and get a job that way
>>62043138wtf is that image lol.
>>62043138>I work in restaurant management and many of the people applying to entry level roles have degrees, some are in school for their masters.I am very good at my job.Multiple times I have left a job & they soft offered me promotion to come back.Getting interviews or hired somewhere new is near impossible.I hate this economy.
>>62043138The Starbucks I work at is always hiring new people.
>>62044772I met a guy once who had 2 degrees in computer scienceHe didn't know about subnetting
>>62044772It's pretty awful out there. Post office hires anyone without a felony if you need money, they don't care if you're overqualified. Probably wouldn't beat a disabled veteran but custodian is overpaid and underworked if you can find an open position, clerk is a decent job, carrier makes a lot of money with effectively mandatory 60hr weeks but it's dogshit unless you live in a place that never gets above 100 or below freezing since the trucks are 50 years old and don't have AC.Once you make career you can apply to any management job, or hope an engineer position opens at a plant which is basically guaranteed since everyone working at the post office is an uneducated failure.>t. ChemE that couldn't find a job for 3 years
>>62044797>"always hiring new people">calling gen xrs with three degrees and twenty years experience "people"
>>62043138If there are a lot of people applying for your job, doesn't that mean the market is strong? If you got no applications that would be fucked.
>>62043183dude join the military before ww3 starts what a great idea
>>62043449Yeah, I quit my web dev job, making $138k, in summer 2024, under-estimating how long it would take me to get new work. Now I do Uber Eats on eBike but am making $29/hr weekdays, $30/weekends. Being low income again helped me cut my expenses down from $3,300/month to just $1,750/month, too. I still live very comfortably and just stopped buying products, to cut expenses. The gig work isn't bad, either. My pride irks me, having previously been in a position where we had free lunch every day and beer on tap, in our Disneyland style tech office, but now being the serving class instead, but the 100% outdoors job on a bike is actually surprisingly nice, too, especially since I stopped picked up fast food entirely. I only need to work 2-3 days a week, 4-7 hour shifts to pay my bills entirely, also, and am not touching my $150k in investments, which just grow in the meantime. Sufficient paying work is there, if you look for it properly.
>>62043138The restaurant industry is also fucked, nobody can afford $100 plus tip for reheated Sysco sloppa.
>>62043138Was telling these college kids that many current graduates cannot jobs and that entry level jobs are disappearing. Then they got triggered and told me that is not possible. I said even if 30% of entry level jobs and all other levels are gone, they will still be affected. Then I said when middle and above level jobs employees get fired, they will have to start working in entry level jobs. The college kids just kept spewing nonsense and insulting me. So from then on, I love telling current college students there are no entry level jobs once they graduate.
>>62045321>quitting a job without having another one lined upthats craaazy
>>62045651i always do dat bruh
>>62045715>I always done that therefore there are no other better waysego
>>62043199What a stupid reason you have to not want kids.
>>62043138>many of the people applying to entry level roles have degrees, some are in school for their masters. They're demoralized. Just keep applying to white collar jobs. It's more social skills than anything. If you're at least midwit-tier, you should not be working at a restaurant above the age of 22. But harsh parents and propaganda online beats people down and convinces them they should be grateful to have shitty jobs that waste their life away.
>>62045772Not wanting a girl is a good reason. Youre just a middle aged loser married to a post wall female.
