>the world's economy is shit because in most civilized nations the best investment for boomers gen-xers was getting a house/real state and now they own millions on a non-productive asset that's only valuable because of scarcity and blocks an essential necessary commodity for the younger generations and any government that tries to fix the issue (aka lower the price of housing) will get politically crucified by old people aka the only reliable voting block
it's crazy that something so simple fucked over the world and there's nothing we can do to fix it.

Retard
It becomes more valuable because the government prints money and mortgages are the most popular form of debt

dont blame boomers, blame central banking and government
>>
>>62091201
>what is zoning
>what is mass immigration
>what is pensions

boomers did insider trading as an entire generation
>>
>>62091201
Boomers consistently vote to fuck over building any new housing infrastructure, you have no idea how bad it is.
They'll be gone soon though, just a few more years.
>>
>>62091201
> dont blame boomers
boomers let it all happen
"but they didn't knew" I knew everything was completely fucked at 16, they knew. Oh they knew. But they got theirs, so fuck you
>>
>>62091201
houses should logically depreciate like cars do. the value of land tracking the overall asset market makes more sense, but that has nimby shit mixed up into it

there is no nimby shit in my country (finland) and guess what, housing prices generally keep dropping each year because there is a surplus. that is DESPITE essentially 10-20% inflation that assets should have each year in general. i think the housing situation is partially why we are in a recession desu (which is honestly for the best)
>>
the only reason property being a good investment for most people is the fact that most people cant save money on their own. a fucking 20 year loan pretty much forces them. one would be surprised how few people learn delayed gratification during their childhood. I blame boomers and their retarded parenting for that.
>>
>>62091456
to be fair the current economic model is based around deficit spending which makes "saving" kinda gay. saving fiat money is completely retarded because it gets chomped for like 10-20% of its value each year by the asset market, and the asset market is a casino due to deficit spending and insider trading, and is completely beholden to what trump happens to tweet or what gets blown up in the middle east

the world just runs on debt
>>
>>62091438
Then it's not a recession, just marketed as such to us cattle. Recession is when you can't enterprise properly, not when some static asset declines in value but increases in utility for economic activity.
>>
>>62090983
If you invested into a house, you got something like 30 to 100% over the last 15 years, with property taxes and maintenance costs and transaction taxes and "fees" (=taxes) to subtract. If you invested into the stock market 15 years ago, you are set for life.
>>
>>62091616
my boomer parents always counter with:
"you cant live in your stocks" whenever I bring it up.
>>
>>62090983
>and there's nothing we can do to fix it.
Well there is one thing.
>>
>>62091616
It's not that different actually:

If you bought a house in a city in 1976 it probably cost $45,000 and you probably paid the down which at the time was 20% so $9000

If you, instead, put that same $9000 in an index, compounding/reinvesting divis, you would have, at most, $2.35 million today.

Guess what the price of that $45,000 city house would be today?

And, of course, there's maintenance and taxes on a house but there's still rent and utilities if you're renting which will actually eat up much more unless you're living in bum fuck nowhere in which case this is no longer an apples to apples comparison because you're probably earning much less etc etc
>>
>>62090983
It doesn't matter anymore all politicians are basically just boomers at this point. And there's probably nothing we can do to change it until they die, and than just hope the next generation up is better. You have people like Mitch McConnell who is 84 and literally freezes when talking, or Biden who probably had dementia as the president it literally doesn't matter things wont change for a while
>>
>>62090983
>anon discovers inflationary mmt bullshit harms everybody except bankers
Wow what a novel idea, except then you had to try and add a bunch of well poisoning divisiveness to it. Go back
>>
>>62091391
Boomers can't get along well enough to do insider trading. They all know everything.
>>
>>62091828
What do you mean no one even cares about insider trading anymore it happens every time Trump announces something
>>
>>62091835
Yes and no one cares hence why there are no investigations, no arrests...

owning an asset is a lot of hard work and should be rewarded. there is no greater merit or talent than being born some decades earlier than your peers
>>
>>62091867
lol I own my land and home. I pray this happens, unfortunately broke browns dont get it. We are complaining about taxes, not the cost of things. My taxes continue to creep up while the value of my land and home stay stagnate. And I'm in texas, our land tax rate is now on par with california.
