I just learned that my wrist is completely fucked and I need serious surgery to fix it. It’s likely kind of urgent which would likely force me to get surgery right a couple weeks before my internship starts in June. From there, I’ll likely spend 8-12 weeks in a cast, which is probably going to be my entire internship (and summer fml). I really don’t want to screw this opportunity up because it’s an MBA internship that could land me a full time role making quite a bit of money. Any advice?
My advice is for you to lose weight. You can probably still type with a cast
>>62092016I just worry that my work output is gonna be much slower than my peers who are all competing for a handful of slots. I definitely should be able to, but I worry the timing is really bad. Not much I can do about it though. The brace I’m in now is just until surgery actually gets done. The cast will be much more substantial when it’s put on
>>62091965What’s the internship?
>>62092119It’s a commercial leadership development internship program for a pharmaceutical company. Basically if I do well, I can get a full time offer for the actual LDP.
Is that a scaphoid fracture I see?
>>62092131Congrats! Will you be doing a lot of excel / PPT work? That’s the only way I see your hand being an issue, but even then it’s surmountable
>>62092037I have a programmer friend who only has two fingers on his right hand. The quality of your work won’t depend on a cast.
>>62092144Unfortunately not. It’s a scapholunate rupture and a TFCC. I wasn’t lying about my wrist being destroyed lol. The surgeon I saw yesterday described my SL ligament as being “gone” haha fml
>>62092148Thanks! Yeah, it’s probably gonna be a lot of PowerPoint and emails. Less so Excel, but it’s certainly possible I’ll be doing a lot of that too
>>62092162Fair, it’s more the timeliness of things is all. I’m happy to work late to get things done if that’s what it takes, but I just would hate if this already crappy situation is made worse by costing me a great opportunity.
>>62092173Relax, no one types anymore, it's all voice input now. I haven't done it in half a year or so outside 4chan, and I do real estate and SaaS for a living.>commercial leadership development internship program for a pharmaceutical companyYou are either in the top 20% height and ick-free or rich in blackmail to land you a 100% qualification-free representative leech role, or you become self employed ASAP. The default hypothesis is that AI is better than humans in management in one or two years, which means the rich run all business ventures without entrepreneurs through some SaaS that gives them a pile of paper to sign every week while wrangling a flock of minimum wage slaves, essentially AI's biobots. It will have a nice layer of comfortable lies on top, they will call the poverty slaves turbo empowered AI leveraging entrepreneurs or something, but that will be the flow of wealth and control, AI abolishes capital-less entrepreneurship. That means you need to start a venture where that can not be done, or while it can not be done yet, and work 100 hours a week to escape the pods and drafts.
>>62091965>>62092037bro. I understand you want an actual answer here but listen to the other guy. your main problem here is not the internship or your broken hand its your body weight. lose weight NOW, this is more important than a retarded internship. you are fucking fat.
>>62092485Brother, respectfully, I’m literally a Marine. You got one look at my arm in a brace. I’m 6’2” 215. I’m not skinny, but I really don’t think I’m fat lol
>>62091965If you live in the US, the ADA should protect you. Stop being a faggot and do 3 seconds of research next time.If not, why are you even pursuing an MBA? Go study sheep shearing or whatever the hell you Europeans do.
>>62092657It’ll protect me, sure, but that didn’t mean I’m entitled to a job at the end of the internship. I just am looking for advice on working in a cast and navigating any social stigma about being in a cast the entire time.
>>62092016>>62092485Also, just to prove to y’all I’m not lying (this bothered me, not sure why) I’m not fat, I promise. I could probably drop a few, but no more that like 5-10 lbs
>>62093544If your face matches your body, if I were you I'd tell bitches I got in a bar fight after kicking a bald dudes ass to get that sweet sweet office pussy
>>62093715Lol, nobody is gonna believe I won if I’m in a cast all summer haha
just keep it clean and not smelling funky thats it, try to have differnt color ones so that people know you change it out like your underwear. .... notthing more you can do you cripple.
>>62093544youre muscular but youre still fat as shit bro, open that shirt up and show youre fat fcuking belly, and look at thhose fat sausage fngers youre liek 18% bodyfat. borderline clinaically obese
>>62093966>>62093966Any advice on doing that? I haven’t been in a cast since 9th grade and when I was in that one it was waterproof so the smell wasn’t nearly as bad. It also wasn’t summer…As far as changing the cast out, it sounds like it’ll be only 1-2 casts during the whole internship, so not a huge opportunity to change it out.
>>62093975The fingers I can’t change. They’ve always been that way, even when I was ripped as seen here lol. Admittedly it’s been a few years and a few pounds since then, but “fat as shit” I’d wild. Overweight, maybe. Not borderline clinically obese lol
After an elbow injury I spent a few weeks with a cast. I could move the fingers although they were very weak in the beginning. So after a few sick days I returned to work and managed just fine. Typing with one hand and occasionally using the fingers on the other one. I got faster within days, the boss and coworkers were sympathetic so it didn't worsen my standing at the office.
>>62094026That’s good to hear. I just am worried because I’ll be competing against others who are gonna be able-bodied for the same roles.
>>62093994>>62093994>>62093994>>62093975ok bro, anyways it doesnt matter, ripped or not. women will fuck either wayand search up cast, wrap . or atheltic tape you can swap out over the cast , or even cast covers. the idea is just to let other people know you are maintaining the cast thus you care about your wellbeing. so if they see you taking care of yourself they will actually respect you and also want to take care of you... this actually low key might help you in being more likeable. without them even really realizing it. how cute would it be when some notice you swap out and have a nice clean cast all the tineits like... youre so respeonsible. use this to yor advagntage .
as long as you don't bring it up every conversation nobody will care after like the first 2 weeks. it also shows you have a somewhat active lifestyle as you likely hurt it playing a sport or working out.
>>62094119Makes sense. I don’t want it to be a big deal, although admittedly, I wouldn’t be surprised if I end up feeling kind of embarrassed by it. It’s one thing to wear a cast as a kid, but another as an adult
pay your friend to pretend to be you
>>62091965>>62092037Why would the brace slow you down so much? Unless your "job" will be to fetch coffee and offer handjobs, the work will be 80% thinking. You might have to type a bunch of stuff, but you can do that one-handed, or better yet get voice-to-text software so that you can just talk at your computer and have it type out what you tell it (might not be great for spreadsheets, should be fine for other documents). The typing will depend on what sort of surgery it is and what your surgical team tells you about whether or not excessive typing will result in internal damage. And of course a lot will depend on whoever is managing you and whether that person (or those people) are fucking assholes who evaluate you without regard for your temporarily limited wrist mobility (assuming it even affects you).
>>62093544Your bigger problem will be fending off all the homosexuals who want you to give them a solid reaming.
>>62093966>just keep it clean and not smelling funky>>62093994>le howIt's going to depend on the cast. Modern fiberglass casts, you can hose 'em down and they won't get too stinky. Sometimes those can't be used because [insert medical noises] so they have to use the old plaster style. Those absolutely suck. Also, you won't be able to wear a suit over those unless you get a special oversized sleeve tailored.>>62094036Just be all "Hooah!" and "Sir yes sir!" Maybe throw in an "Aye-aye, captain!" if you meet the CEO. Retards eat that shit up.
>>62094488The brace wouldn’t slow me down too much. But depending on the surgery I receive, I could spend up to a month in a cast that runs from my fingers to my mid-bicep. I agree that the job is mostly thinking and some work with it but I want to be fully capable. >>62094496Thank you?
>>62091965You have sausage fingers, it's gross to look at. Please never post again.
>>62091965work longer to compensate for your hand. Take your next days work home and do it at home. Be prepared in advance.
>>62094505>Modern fiberglass casts, you can hose 'em down and they won't get too stinky. I think I’ll get fiberglass, but I’m like 99% sure I’m getting the cotton liner that can’t get wet which is unfortunate. A summer without swimming is no fun…
>>62094526basically perform at the same level a person without an injury would or even better and you will stand out.Sorry for not being more spefici i don't have any experience with business degrees and how you guys operate but my guess is being friendly and contacts matter a lot more for you guys so do that.
>>62093544>you should see the other guy>*shows her some live leak gore video*you'll be swimming in pussy because women love violence, suffering and death
>>62094595meant for >>62093778damnit i can do nothing right
tell them that you can't jerk off and therefore will be significantly more productive they'll respect you for that
>>62091965jack off with your left hand instead
