I feel like the job I've got is a good mix at the moment, I work crazy hours for two 3 month periods a year but make a buttload and have the other 6 months off basically but might get called back randomly for a month or something random. The work I do is pretty interesting but it's more of a supervisor type of role where I'm not allowed to do any work other than my quick surveys then I just make sure they stay out of certain areas so it's not labour intensive at all. At most I do 6 hours of "work" in a 12 hour shift and 4 of those 6 hours are me quietly reading a book. The other 6 hours I chit chat or sleep or watch movies, play cards. We've even got a gym at work. My bosses catch me sleeping all the time and a couple times they just pulled a chair up and napped beside me because they've all done the job too. Then when I get laid off I just take unemployment until I get called back in.
