It is worth it, if for no other reason than it makes the year longer assuming you are making your own adventures and fucking local girls. Stick to visiting/living in the capital cities of the the best 3rd world shitter countries and you'll be alright.

It's worth it if you have a genuine interest in experiencing other parts of the world and you don't mind a bit a solitude. Start with Western Europe if you're a total noob and then eventually check out East/Southeast Asia, South America, Mexico, etc.
6 months is an ideal length of time, 5-10k saved up will get you through most of Asia or S/CA, make sure you learn about the local culture and street wisdom of that country before you step foot there. Remember to have fun and post it on social media to make others seethe and quit their day jobs to travel also
