What motivates you to make more money?
Assuming you have a chill job where you save half your income without trying (me), why stress yourself with investing or building a business or anything like that? Just wondering if there's anything I'm missing. Got about 150k in my brokerage in VOO/treasury bonds, which I might check a few times a year max. I know I could make more speculating on other things but to me it seems why even bother.

My desire to never work for another fucking corporation again unless I want to.

Sounds like you're doing pretty good and you should continue on that groove as long as it's genuinely good and your work setup works for you.

Don't underestimate how your life is going to evolve decade by decade. Spouse situations and having kids changes your outlook by a lot. In 10 years, your greyness and overall fitness is going to feel tangibly different. Quite a few people you know and your some of your friends and family are going to die. Your goals are going to shift and that's life.

My advice would be very realistic about where you're going to be in 10 and 20 years. You should be able to have a lifestyle that includes a decent paid for house and new modest cars ever 6 years. Honestly, there's not much beyond that involving money and consumer spending you can move the needle with in terms of life satisfaction. Once you are there, you can be extremely open to following goals beyond just a chill job and a financial pad.

nothing. i never cared. my problem is that I don't care enough to the point I have been quite content to make just barely enough to afford a lower middle class apartment dweller lifestyle. this narrow margin apathy really fucked me over during covid and continues to fuck me over with all this inflation. i couldn't just find a way to make 40% more money overnight.

i dont make enough to move to and buy a home in the area i want to live in

nothing and thats unironically a problem. I earn "enough" and I work "enough" thats why my wage is pretty much the same for the past 2-3 years. it could be better but it wouldnt really change my daily life or would let me reach my investing goal sooner.
