After 10 years working in a big corpo. I went to my office today and the security guard was there. He didn't let me touch anything and escorted me to HHRR but I already knew what was going to happen. They didn't give me any reasons. My boss didnt even look at my eyes. They don't want to go to court so they paid me a HUGE severance pay + TWO years of full unemployment benefits (EU country)And now i'm just here sitting in my living room still processing that after a decade I won't need to wake up early and fight with my bosses and customers anymore. It feels weird.I probably will take a sabbatical in SEA or something.Holy shit. It really feels weird. What would you do /biz/? I honestly dont care about a big gap on my resume and money is not an issue now
>>62125608lol
What are you good at? Capitalize on your hobbies with seed money from the severance package.
>>62125630>Capitalize on your hobbies>Hiking, filming and traveling.Oh great i'm going to be a youtuber now.
>>62125608Sounds like a country with high taxes. What are the rules for taxes if you're outside of the country? Become a trader, open a business, etc. Get into DeFi if your country is trying to screw you on taxes.
>>62125698I like that, in death, all this kike cared about was getting a swipe in at another jewtube kike. What a fuckin loser lmao
>>62125608Where's the party, anon?
>>62125608>HUGE severance pay + TWO years of full unemployment benefitsi'm jealous
>>62125743>Sounds like a country with high taxesIf I legally sell my BTC bag these bastards will take 23%, so yes. But no trading for me. I'm terrible at it.>>62125804Pattaya? Im still deciding. But today im going to eat a good steak and get drunk at home.>>62125813>i'm jealousDon't be. It took a DECADE of corporate hell to get this, and piss off a regional CEO enough to not even want to go to court with their army of lawyers. They just wanted me OUT as soon as possible.Damn, what the fuck did i do lmao.

it’s crazy how bloodless it all is. and now with so many remote or hybrid workers they’ll just schedule a Teams meeting and fire you while you’re at home. you ship back your computer and that’s it. I work for a big US company that has done a lot of rounds of layoffs over the past 6 years. luckily my department was only affected by one of them. my boss’s boss DMd me asking who the two weakest performers were. I gave him two names and they were gone the next day. I think each got 6 months of pay. we just had another round of layoffs last week and I was lucky to survive again. by I’m constantly waiting for it to happen because they’re already in the process of outsourcing most of our work to South America. eventually I won’t be needed.
Don't get too comfy, you should start finding out what to do now instead of waiting until you need to start looking for a job because you wont find one. I bet if you tried to find a job starting now you would finally get hired 9 months from now.
>>621258755>2>1>3>4
>>62125608I sold a business and had some time before getting a job. I was depressed when unemployed.
>>62125875Can you take a BTC loan and pay zero taxes on it? Then you can invest the money in a business or something and pay back the loan. There are services that will auto-payback the loan in case BTC goes down so that way you don't get liquidated.
>>621258752>5>3>1>4
>>62125902>Don't get too comfy, you should start finding out what to doYou know, after a decade of corporate hell (and before that, years of office wagecucking) is really that bad that I want to take a sabbatical year? I'm 38 so I know that it's a bad idea, but my parents are starting to be really old and maybe this is the last opportunity to do it before I have to take care of them...also i'm single since Christmas>>62125938Are you trying to sell me some shady loan website or something? Anon I don't need risky investments anymore, I have enough money for years and my btc bag won't leave my trezor ever
>>62125958Just take some time off, man. No one's going to bat an eye at a one-year gap on your resume, sabbaticals are perfectly acceptable in Europe and you're still young enough to have fun.
>>62125958No DESU I'm just literally in your exact situation however I want number to continue to go up instead of number go down. Safe APY is good, BTC is good, trading whatever you feel safe trading is good, and starting businesses is good.
>>62125608Plenty of time for investment research. 7 months after I first began looking around I saw a crypto recommendation for a new chain. Then October 2023 happened and everything dipped. It came back from that dip and by 2025 it had become a 10000x. Sure not every year has that kind of opportunity but the point is that it's good to be looking around even if you're not staring at charts of "in the trenches" 24/7. >SEAWherever you go from here but especially there, be sure to look up the history of natural disasters and be prepared for them so you don't end up having to pay even more money due to being unprepared. Pic-related, you never know what's possible. Also, get into growing your own food and having a back-up home. This isn't about an apocalypse, but being prepared for temporary but harsh scenarios. I have a pal who plays games for hours upon hours per week yet still gets more out of his greenhouse than he can eat by himself, so don't shy away due to the initial time investment. Many people throughout history who were well off enough to not have to work, were suddenly hit by economic/environmental disasters and really felt it due to being unprepared. But maybe according to your research and where you live, no such things will happen in your lifetime. The important thing is to look into it.
>>62125608Happened to me. I got another job within 3 weeks and got to choose my favorite. 15 years experience C/C++ is pretty employable turns out. Thinking about quitting anyway to go fly airplanes as a second career instead.
>>621258752>5>1>3>4
>>62125608That must feel alright. My work time seesaws between 4 months of nonstop all day work and about 4 months off and it feels good to not work for 4 months.
>>62125608>losing your jobgood>losing your housegood>wife leaves yougood>getting cancergoodall of these things are good. it will make you stronger. you will come back stronger. I unironically envy you, wish I would lose something important to feed my drive.
>>62126029>halo>fly planesReminds me of Joe
>>62126015> EuropeYeah I was about to say, if OP was in burgerland, even a 1 week sabbatical will absolutely destroy your resume and make you permanently blacklisted by ANY hiring company in this abysmal job market.
>>62126110Gee thanks siddharta
>>62126134Just set your LinkedIn Employment Status to CTO of Stealth Startup. HR still hasn't figured out that means you were actually bug chasing in SEA for a year.
>>62125608>2 years pay for getting cannedYou better make the most of it you lucky bastard. >>62125875I don’t care what you say, I’m still jealous. I know I wouldn’t receive such a nice payout if I was fired. If you don’t at least spend a nice year doing everything you put off, you’ll regret it. Fuck.-t. wageslave amerifag
