We've been hearing that AI is not yet profitable but it will be in 2024 / 2026 / 2030 / just a couple more years / trust me bruh. But jokes aside, where would it come from? I don't see the mass market adopting it and I don't see adapting it for the mass market either. All I see is tons of chatbot garbage comes in all stripes, yet people don't really show interest. It's almost like they're throwing money in fire and hoping for a miracle. No doubt you can make a quick buck from their stocks now, but then what? -90% and another 15 years floundering at the bottom like it was after 2008?
>>62137514profit for thee but not for me
>>62137514>But jokes aside, where would it come fromTaxes
I can see Claude making money as companies are actually paying for it
>>62137514>. All I see is tons of chatbot garbage comes in all stripeBecause you are not a programmer, or anyone else with a skill of worth. Why should I explain to you what software devs see everyday?
>>62137709The problem is Claude subscriptions cost Anthropic more money than they make on them, all of the tiers. If you have a $20 Claude Pro subscription and you are using it to hit the weekly limits Anthropic is literally spending money to enable you to do that resulting in a net loss. It's much worse with the $200 one
>>62137767If thats the case they probably keep it low now, let people get accustomed to it and then increase it while they are hookedI cant imagine writing code manually anymore so that worked
As a retail pleb, I wouldn't pay more than 10/15 a month, ever, to use AI, don't care how intelligent it gets and the free models are already good enough for me to query something I might want, so to prise me away from the free models into paid would be difficult task in itself. I am not alone, many such cases. My job doesn't entail use of it and if it did then the business should/would pay for it.I don't see where they can ever make money, especially relying on B2B for the bulk of the market.
>>62137767> and you are using it to hit the weekly limitsI doubt many people do it, especially in a company that gives licences to every devI have personally never hit the 5h or weekly limit
>>62137514>It's almost like they're throwing money in fire and hoping for a miracle. They've already thrown their money in the fire, expecting the miracle, and now that the miracle still isn't here, their only choice is to continue shoveling money into the fire until either the miracle comes, or it all collapses.
>>62137763I am, LLMs have just turned my work into reviewing code instead of writing it. It's faster to review than write, in many cases, but it's hardly the black swan event that linkedin corpo-drones have been raving over for the past two years.
>>62137767Companies will become dependent on their product so they'll hike prices in 5-10 years
They will make money eventually when they will be replacing all the wagies. When it will become "a thing" that everybody uses. After that they will increase prices. In 5 years AI will cost 100 dollars monthly fee.But makes me wonder..if you have no wagies to consume and pay for it who will?Im guessing elites will use it between eachother, while wagies die on streets of fentanyl overdoses.
>>62137767remember when uber was cheap?
>>62137514>where would it come from?Businesses. Right now AI compute is sold at a loss to develop a user base. This helps the companies to improve on the models since they're constantly gathering data from the users. Eventually, hopefully, the models will be good enough to perform tasks with as few failures as you could expect from competent humans, except you now effectively have an near inexhaustible talent pool of computer workers. Then price goes from a thousand dollars a year to tens of thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands. For example good lawyer can cost you 500 dollars an hour, that's about 1 million dollars a year. Obviously if you could get the same service for 100K a year and the robot lawyer works 24/7, you'll get 200% more work for 10% of the money. Now apply the same to countless jobs. Will this happen? Probably not. Maybe eventually but there could be some hard limit to LLMs and we need to develop the next thing to get there.
>>62137887This. People really don't understand the mod of taking a loss first for huge gains later. Its the opposite of crypto
>>62138352Lawyer here. AI is garbage for legal writing. It doesn't fo analysis and makes up facts and cases. It literally doesn't work and probably never will.
>>62138720AI Lawyer here, just give me another trillion dollars and I might work.
>>62137514the whole point of growing up is realizing all tech has been a vaporware/planned obsolescence ponzi scheme for the last 3 decades and its your job to fleece the plebs
>>62137514The government will add an AI Datacenter Maintenance Fee to all purchases.
>op
>>62137767The tech will become cheaper to provide in time. better to nail down a customer base now at a loss
>>62137514it costs money to build up the capacity. both in terms of how smart the AI is and in terms of hardware to run more instances of the model in parallel.Eventually AI will do almost all white collar work. At that point AI companies will be making all the money white collar workers made. When they build out the robot work force, then AI can do the blue collar and service work. At that point AI is essentially doing all work. They will capture those jobs because an AI powered robot will cost far less than a human at that point. Probably something like $5-10/hr as opposed to $15-50 depending on the job. The last jobs to be fully automated will be the lowest paying. There will always be some employers who refuse to use robots, they will be boutique offerings and probably not compete well with a workforce that doesnt sleep or eat or demand higher wages. When 99pc of workers are unemployed, we will tax the AI companies heavily for purposes of funding a UBI.Screencap this.
>>62138720Time is almost up for you overpaid chump.
>>62138855>When 99pc of workers are unemployed, we will tax the AI companies heavily for purposes of funding a UBI.They will tax AI because the political elite will need money for Israel and for themselves.UBI will never exist its just fairytale. They will kill everybody or let you die of starvation, as they did since the industrial revolution. My guess is they will do it "peacefully" by force sterilization since birth. After everbody is dead the system will equilibrate, and rich elites will have AI to do all the work for them, as they wanted for thousands of years. This world was nothing but a huge gaslit and manipulation and everybody was searching for someone to hold their bags since the first cell ate another. Its over. At least the elites will have good lives and most probably live forever.
>>62137514"They say that something will happen X years from now. We have been hearing that for X years." I wonder if there is a name for that phenomenon? Let me know when AI can figure out how to make AI profitable.
