This is the stock price chart of Atlassian, the company that makes Jira.

They employee over 10000 wagies who work hard every day, doing overtime, playing internal politics, trying to get promoted.

For what? A stock that has gone practically nowhere in 10 years.

Literally what is even the point of capitalism and work. All you need to do is hold a scarce asset and you will outperform all the time and effort of thousands of wagies.

The company makes something like 6 or 7 billion dollars a year at this point, and on top of that you get great benefits and a fairly secure workspace working for them.

Source: Was part of a company Atlassian bought, I have since quit becuase big tech corp did not interest me
>>
how the fuck all these saas companies are even a thing in the first place is retarded. if companies just make the initial investment to make their own basic shit, it could be more streamlined. its even dumber than using windows. IT is a bigger bubble than AI

Was bought

Why do people think stock price = profit? Many stocks are going down while the company's profits are just increasing every year
>>
SaaS businesses got oneshot by AI, this is why the stock price is in the shitter.

Making things people want and need, which Atlassian does.
>All you need to do is hold a scarce asset

>be atlassian, salesforce
>invest decades into building easy-to-use UIs that allow normies to interact with backend systems
>get rugpulled by google inventing a universal natural language UI in the form of a chatbot that can call every API known to man
>marketcap flows to owners of the new best UI
>this somehow is capitalisms fault

And the ai can build the same system with ease

I like JIRA.
I worked for a German company that forced us to use Azure devops and it was fucking terrible jeetcode.
JIRA is actually really good at what it does.

Okay you're allowed to use as many agents and tokens as you want please go ahead and create jira
>>
Does atlassian have companies by the balls like SAP does? Meaning once they are in they won't get out. Company I work for moves from bitbucket to github but keeps jira.
>>
>>62158154
Nah, well, maybe if you want to keep your backlog and historical issues.

SaaS nigger here, I pump out integrations between various application lifecycle management tools (ALM, such as JIRA, ServiceNow, DevOps etc.) on business customer request for a living.

I can shine some light on why companies are actually willing to shill out an infinite+ amount of money for something that basically always boils down to "a ticketing system with a configurable status workflow" and pay for shit like JIRA, DevOps or ServiceNow (often at the same time btw):

1. Managers, women and other kinds of normgroid cattle need nice colors and shapes: It's VERY common that companies have a bunch of tools like these running in parallel while they do the exact same thing and even display the same information but some are more complex than others.
JIRA is often times the lowest common denominator where you get the most watered-down overview of the information, packaged in a nice colorful UI.
2. Normoids (again): They are deadly afraid of autistic hardcore-utilitarian user interfaces. Look up SAP Solution Manager, which is so ugly and repulsive to normies that companies are willing to shill out six figures a year for some integration that hides all of that info.
3. Business processes are vastly complex: A german forestry company functions vastly different to a nordic oil company. Atlassian has pretty much nailed finding that common middle ground between all companies in their feature scope.
4. The same 3-4 platforms work for ALL companies, so why wouldn't it work for you? Why risk using something else or even rolling out your own in-house shit if JIRA is already known to work for everyone, from car manufacturers to national post offices.
5. Businesses are not the primary target group: As an oil company, you usually don't have time to figure out what tool to use for change management as you don't make profit from that. There are consultants for that, usually pointing to JIRA as it just werks.

Atlassian actually makes good reliable software doe.

>almost 200%
>nowhere

Correct.
Banks have money.
They develop some apps for their core business. They aren't creating their own firewalls or cloud infra or whatever. Tech companies provide all that.
