Everyone has a $50,000 Pokemon card collection now, it's gonna keep going up right?
Pokemon cards are an alternate form of currency which has all the features of currency while resting outside the functional reach of the government. Think of it as art collections for poor people. An inflated micro economy of money laundering through paintings etc. Well poor people have done the same thing with trading cards. Combine this with the fact that these little scraps of paper represent market share in the most successful entertainment franchise in history, have scarcity, suffer natural attrition, and strongly associated with psychological tendencies like herd mentality and hoarding. Its just the beginning.
>>62153913Considering how easily and cheaply you can buy fakes from China it seems like this is a stupid hobby for retarded faggots
>>62153964Just like fiat currency, pokemon cards are made with safety features like this alternating fingerprint texture. Many other types of authenticity clues that sensible collectors know about
>>62154017You don't seem to understand that the Chinese factory which makes the real ones just runs off some fakes on third shift and sells them through their own back channels.
>>62153913>>62153957this. it's a store of value okay? because it just is if you disagree with me you're not a top contributor like me
>>62153913In a world where value is becoming more digitized, value you can hold will become more valuable. This is one of the main reasons tangible assets like Pokémon cards will continue gaining over the years. You don’t have to like it, but that’s how life is.
>>62153913I think it's a generational thing. Like coins, stamps, and baseball cards were for previous generations. Holds tons of sway with millenials/early gen z, but pokemon is less and less popular because the new content sucks more and more/it's old-coded. It'll lose value when gens alpha and beta don't want to buy it.
>>62155496>should I buy gold or Pokémon cards… hmm..
>>62155531I prefer gold, but will occasionally pick up a PSA 10 Pokémon slab when I feel like I’m getting a good deal.

>>62153964lel. what's the best way to sell fakes to unsuspecting goycattle
>>62153964>be me>Buy a real PGA 10 slab>Buy a fake from tempu>crack the slab, replace>have the PGA 10 regraded>repeatRumor has it 50% of slabs being sold are already fake.
