Is the cable industry cooked?
>>62156525Paid TV was already dying.>The most alarming metric for investors was the loss of 120,000 broadband customers, a sharp increase from the 59,000 lost in the same period last year, signaling deepening competitive pressure in its core business. Beyond subscriber churn, revenue dipped 1% to $13.6 billion as traditional video revenue plunged over 9% due to persistent cord-cutting.Who are they losing internet subscribers to? Normies are just using their phones internet?

>>621565755G internet is the biggest competition. Tmobile and Verizon home internet to be specific.
I have had spectrum internet for almost a decade now and im thinking about writing them a letter and telling them to give me a more competitive rate or I am either switching to starlink (even if it costs more) or Tmobile home internet once they have 5g in my area (currently working on it). With spectrum I started out paying $45 a month back in 2017 to $90 now with no change in my plan, less usage as years gone by, and dealing with outages weekly.
>>62156525as soon as those jeet blackboxes became mainstream it was clear the top was in
I gave up on cable because it was just too shitty. I would unironically pay for 1998 cable tv>box turns on instantly>never ever had to reboot it (which takes 10 min to reload all software)>pressing UP on cable remote brings you to next channel instantly, this led for easy channel surfing (the original scrolling)>for the last 15 years pressing UP led to a black screen, then the show, then UP leads to another black screen>78 channels back in the day, now it's over 2000
>>62156525>>62157748The problem with cable is that they're going for the model of squeezing every dollar out of their existing paypigs and giving up on actually having a decent product. I actually wanted cable when I first got my own place but they wanted $100 a month for the most basic package. For comparison, I get 300 Mbps internet + Hulu + Disney + Netflix + HBO Max + ESPN from them for $60. Why the hell would I ever pay for cable in that scenario? I wouldn't and they don't care because they think their existing boomer customers will gladly pay $200-300 a month forever which as we are seeing isn't true.
