So is Pokemon in another massive bubble or is this the Millennial version of up only forever indexes for Boomers? How many of you have Pokemon cards as part of your portfolio over crypto?
>>
Gambling addicts hunting the dragon
Millenial's nostalgia for the game boy era
Scalpers jumping on anything worthwhile

99,9% of cards are worthless. Are 99,9% of bitcoin worthless? Of gold? of stocks?

I just buy them cause they look cool I don't really care about their value, it's more like a hobby
>>

Of course it is a massive bubble. It is just zoomers and late millennials being nostalgic about "le epic childhood toys". It's a trend. It will collapse as will most other "collectible" (read: mass produced junk)

Its no different to NFTs and many will get extremely raped if they think this is investing.

>its in a 29 year bubble bros

It's more like collecting stamps or coins.
>>
>Grown men standing in line on Friday morning at retail establishments like Target, Walmart, and Best Buy to buy the latest batch of cardboard in fancy boxes and tins.

>Arguing with employees because they sold them the box they didn't want.

>Opening cards and basically throwing away 99% of the pack.

Card shops selling "rare" "slabbed" Pokémon cards in glass cases is the top signal.

In the case of bitfuck its 100%

at least 0.01% of nfts can be useful, in game shit, pass be part of le "community" etc... and no way pokemon cards can't be counterfeited

The top signal was Kim Kardashian buying Pokemon cards
>>

Only valuable Pokemon cards are from the original first couple of sets. Everything after is just turbo overprinted trash, and even the original cards' are value capped by retarded millennial nostalgia. I don't understand the hype.
>>

missing context. she took her 10 year old son to a card show and bought the latios and latias full art card
>>

Pokémon cards is basically the last siren song of the depressed manchuld coping with the world before the inevitable happens..

The next gen will have a.i brain implant and playing game In brain they don't want to look at card
>>
Pokemon investing fucking sucks because you have to eventually liquidate your assets and selling all this crap and finding room in your house to store all this shit is a gigantic pain in the ass. It's literally no different than being a small usiness warehouse wagie. Stocks/crypto is infinitely more easier.

Rare art / collectibles exploded during covid.
Its nit just pokemon, it was stuff like luxury watches, vintage band shirts and Jordan shoes. A lot of these crashed or "corrected".
But basically its a reaction to money printing, anything that has demand and a scarce supply will go up in an inflationary environment.
>>
BOOMERS get out!!! Boomers are not welcome in this thread. Your old mush brain isn't even capable of understanding the forces at work.
Pokemon cards are an alternate form of currency which has all the features of currency while resting outside the functional reach of the government. Think of it as art collections for poor people. An inflated micro economy of money laundering through paintings etc. Well poor people have done the same thing with trading cards. Combine this with the fact that these little scraps of paper represent market share in the most successful entertainment franchise in history. They have scarcity, theyre easily swappable, they suffer natural attrition, and theyre strongly associated with psychological tendencies like herd mentality and hoarding.
If you get your panties in a twist every time someone associates pokemon cards with luxury fortune, you should NEVER enter these threads.
