No if you have a paid off house you need 1mil minimum, at a 5% avg return that will fetch 50k. Im also assuming youll use far less then 50k so you won't blow every bit of growth and can ride through the down years. Ideally having 1.5 to 2mil to ensure you can have a vacation or two each year

For example since my work is somewhat seasonal I was able to negotiate an arrangement where I take 3 month off a year (unpaid) and when I reach my next financial milestone I plan to try to only work the 2-3 busiest months and take the rest of the year off.
