But most people don't really register that it could be multiple orders of magnitude off.
I have literally never hid my net worth because its less than 200k anyway (I dont count retirement, its effectively dead money)
I tried once to tell me my mom who has always loved me fiercely and unconditionally and she immediately showed me a very ugly facet of herself. Friends have also speculated my networth and they started to slowly badger me financially. The last strike was when I overheard my own sister threaten to sue me. After that I went full bum beggar mode and convinced people I owe a ton on cc and medical bills along lost money on crypto
