That's a false narrative, gold was artificially undervalued for decades after they made it illegal to own and fixed it at $35/oz as per the gold standard in 1933. That's why from 1971 to 81 gold did a 24x to $850 to get back to fair valuation after they made it legal to invest in again.

Gold right now is about 1.5x fair valuation, it will go back down. To get an idea of real wage loss you would have to compare the value of something that wasn't suppressed like houses from back then to now.
