It's true sometimes and solid advice, but then actually it depends, he'll say to sell the car when the car is a 5k problem and you'd have to spend hours selling it and then you're facing the problem of driving an old beater car that needs work and will increase your stress levels.
So he just says it whenever he can without considering the cost of going and finding this new beater car and then caring for it, and on top of that what's a couple thousand dollars gonna do for someone facing 20k+ in debt.
