I have a new coworker at my blue collar job. We work on computerized high voltage systems. He apparently has an EE degree but our job is very much more maintenance focused and he is, quite frankly, lost. Another sticking point is that the official procedures we are supposed to follow are mostly bullshit desu.He also is legacy US Chinese and obviously autistic.Saying something like "Well the procedure says this but what *I* do to achieve the same goals is ..." just flies over his head unless you really hammer it home. The biggest issue is that he wants to try to solve every little issue that comes up, even when we tell him that that's either something that we, the senior techs, know will never change; or that the thing he has an issue with is literally part of the job he signed up for.Basically how do I deal with an autist who is over-educated and inexperienced?Pic unrelated
>>62177347>something that we, the senior techs, know will never changeTbqh from the outside sounds like you guys have the issue here. If there's something that's inherently confusing and held together by tribal knowledge you should fix this.>or that the thing he has an issue with is literally part of the job he signed up forThat's on him. Just be clear Anyway get drunk the fucker and break down barriers is my suggestion.
>>62177365Tribal knowledge is exactly one of the issues. How do you pass that to someone who seemingly has to be first taught that I, as a senior employee, can only hint at what what he should actually be focusing on.
>>62177347He will either learn to listen or he won't. It is a common problem among new grad engineers that they discount tribal knowledge in favor of textbook knowledge. They will usually figure out how wrong they are, given the chance. If he's autistic he might not. I'd give it 3 months for him to either figure it out or be fired.
what the fuck is legacy US chinese...is that like a descendant of a railroad worker
>>62177347>>62177365>>62177415>>62177365>>62177459Unskilled laborers on here love to make their job sound more complex than it really is. You can tell they're putting on a facade. Hope a Mexican takes OPs job
>>62177365>Tbqh from the outside sounds like you guys have the issue here. If there's something that's inherently confusing and held together by tribal knowledge you should fix this.yeah na m8, once that shit is running the factory nobody gives a fuck, you just let it rip til the wheels fall off
Are you sure he actually did any of what you said at all? We had a problem here in Alberta when we were short on electricians years ago that anyone with a journeyman licence in another country could come here. We ended up with thousands of chinks who had never worked a day as an electrician
maybe you are the autistic one, he obviously doesn't like his role because he thinks he could do better, instead of finding a way to guide him, you want to come gossip on 4chan about it
>>62177866> gossip on 4chan You’re a literal idiot>>62177347This person is right >>62177365Does your management actually give a shit or pay attention? You kind of make it sound like the way you do things that don’t fit the procedure are hidden from them. Do they actually care or do they just not want to update SOPs?
>>62177347I'm one of the manager guys that creates procedures for retards that don't follow them like OP cause "it's more efficient this way". I don't give a single fuck what you think nigger just do your job or get replaced
>>62180674when's the last time your wife looked at you like you were someone she cared about?
>>62180674i work at a company that makes semiconductor manufacturing equipment. im actually a technician that works on the tools for 5 years. last time i took some training, there was a fresh college intern in the training...she was going to be writing procedures.
so many blue collar losers itt T_T
