I remember seeing these 10 years ago when I was into boating. It's a hollow surfboard with a weedeater engine and a little jet drive so you can scoot around on the water. The inventor was showing off the 1st gen units, they cost something like $3k USD which I thought was expensive at the time, how could ordinary people afford that? My brain at the time couldn't comprehend just how fucked the future could possibly get. These things now cost $10k+ euros,15k+ USD, $20k+ CAD. There's electric versions too, they should be cheap right? Just a battery and a motor, no, it's priced at $21k CAD.Hoverboards and electric scooters weren't much of a thing at the time either, but china made them by the millions and made them cheap enough so that anyone could afford mobility. These guys went down the opposite route.Something has gone very wrong with our civilization, instead of trying to make things as afforadble as possible so that everyone can have access to new experiences and a better quality of life which leads to a stronger community through shared culture, our companies have gone down the route of increasing prices to be as high as possible so a small handful of very rich people can enjoy life while the masses fade into irrelevance. In the past this business model would not have been sustainable because of a lack of capital, but now there's so much printed money floating around chasing returns that it seems that any kind of predatory business that overcharges for 'luxury' is viable. How much longer can this continue?
>>62184899who cares? buy a chinese inflatable boat if your poor and leave the carbon fiber titanium 2 stroke jetsurfs for the elite
>>62184899The top 10% do 50% of the consumption. Might as well cater everything to them.
>>62184907This is what I mean, they make you think it's a premium luxury item by using marketing like carbon fiber and titanium. Neither of these materials are actually expensive or necessary. The cost in carbon fiber is mainly from the hand layup process, which on a part the size of a small surf board isn't much and you could just as easily use fiberglass like all marine stuff. And titanium while pricier than aluminum doesn't justify a $20,000 price tag and has no benefits in this particular application. These boards should realistically cost about $1400 if they were mass manufactured but instead it's easier for them to keep it as a boutique product and sell way less of them for alot more money.
>>62184899they are free if you just steal one
>>62184899>$3k USD which I thought was expensiveJust how poor are you? What special knowledge did you have at the time that convinced you that your opinion was more valid and informed than the actual manufacturers? And why do you think the world owes you access to every little frivolity that happens to catch your eyes at whatever price you think they should charge? Just how narcissistic are you, and did you take your meds today?>These guys went down the opposite route.Perhaps if you think *really* hard about the inherent differences between a scooter and a surfboard, the inherent differences between their use cases, as well as the sizes and demographics of their respective potential markets, you might realize the *really* *fucking* *obvious* differences between them that led their manufacturers on their opposite routes. Or just sit there and seethe ignorantly, I don't really care.
>>62184982I bet I'm way richer than you if we're talking FIAT. The special knowledge of knowing how things are made and what prices mass market goods would bear, the business model of chasing only the ultra wealthy didn't exist for stuff like this at the time. You can make one of these by hand from scratch for $3-4k, even cheaper if you harvest an electric scooter, charging $20k shouldn't be possible in a real capitalist economy. The inherent differences in the markets exist because of the pricing model, no one had electric scooters 15 years ago. I remember because I got one given to me for free, it was many thousands of dollars when new and ran off of lead acid batteries. Once the batteries died they threw it away because the technology was shit an a PITA to deal with. Hoverboards and escooters took off after it became cheap enough for the average person to afford them, before that it was mainly out of touch wealthy faggots on $$$ segways.
why would i care if some richfags or poorfags with credits wants to surf on the sea you guys really need to grow up ffs also this board is not your personal blog fuck your mother
>>62185191>You can make one of these by hand from scratch for $3-4kThen make your own then, and stop your whining about how unfair life is that nobody is giving you one for free. You aren't special, everybody is their mommy's bestest little boy.
>>62185191>charging $20k shouldn't be possible in a real capitalist economySerious question - just how stupid are you? Or are you a turdie, or a 14yo incel that's never left your mother's boyfriend's basement? Because those are the only 3 types of people that could so confidently make such an utterly and obviously wrong claim and not instantly die of shame.
>>62185216Retard, I don't want one of these fucking things. I'm saying that there isn't half a car worth of parts and labor in these toys. >>62185228I don't think you even have a job. You can buy a 2-3 year old car for $20k or you can get a fucking surfboard toy? That does not make sense in any reality.
Imagine this OPSenior Finance Analysts on Jane Street received 2.8 million dollars each last year in total comp.Meanwhile you have people fighting for meme bank teller jobs that require college degrees and pay 23/hr "with benefits".Do you really not understand? The world has been divided into the 10% of americans with a net worth of a million, and those who don't.
>>6218527299.99999% of americans arent sernior finance analysts at jane street

>>6218530410% are millionaires (net worth)Many of those are boomers with reverse mortgages, spending it all before they dieThe market is tending to the needs of the 10%, not the 90%.
>>62184982Take it easy, rabbi
Overcharging for luxury items is an ancient marketing trick. Boaters bitch about how everything related to their hobby is priced in "boat bucks," but it's only like that because if you charged them a fair price they would assume it's a crappy product and refuse to buy it.
>>62184978A True Businessman
>>62184899If you weren't part of the top 10% in 2025, you're lower class
>>62184899the only way to fix this, is violent revolution against the j e w s
>>62184899Huh? $20k is like what I make in a Monday morning. Seems cheap to me.
>>62185191If you're so smart and rich, then you should have enough money and brains to build a competing product and bring it to market. Stop complaining like a little bitch faggot.
>>62186267Post pay stubs, faggot.
>>62184899I have the solution if you want to joinjakemalon590 gmail
>>62184976>>These boards should realistically cost about $1400so build one for $1400. if you can offer a product that is very similar to what already exists at 10% of the price then you will make a fortune. if your concept is sound it should also be fairly easy to get it funded.
>>62184899retard, if everyone could afford a ferrari they wouldnf be special. same reason flying sucks shit now, because now you have people like pic related shitting up the airport terminal basically having sex in public you should be happy a foil surfer board costs $20,000 , or else thereād be 300 niggers at ur locallake shitting up the place with rock radio blaring loudly.
What the fuck happened in this thread?OP basically said "the market is fake and gay" and a whole bunch of retarded angry spergs crawl out of the woodwork to say "what's wrong? poor?? u 2 poor???"
>>62186294Traveling sucks now that everyone can do it, even third worlders
>>62184899>instead of trying to make things as afforadble as possible so that everyone can have access to new experiences and a better quality of life which leads to a stronger community through shared culture, our companies have gone down the route of increasing prices to be as high as possible so a small handful of very rich people can enjoy life while the masses fade into irrelevanceThat's the tarded take. Companies have always been trying to maximize profit. Prior to mass industrialization people were poor as shit, and even the wealthiest were in many ways poorer than poor people today.Today even poorfags in nearly all of developed burgerland have:>Power>Running water>Giant ass TVs with satellite channels>Phones in their pocket with more power than a desktop from 20 years ago.>Access to the fucking Internet>Ability to afford more food than they need, with fresh fruits and vegetables available year round. Cornelius Vanderbilt paid to have blueberries shipped to him packed in ice on railway cars from South America at a cost close to sapphires.>Access to most lifesaving medications at a price less than a burrito for a month's worth of medication that didn't exist 30 or 100 years ago.Nearly everyone has:>A car that's safer, more efficient and faster than even royalty had 100 years ago>Washing machine and dryer>Dishwasher >Garbage disposal>Air conditioner It's within the budget of working Americans to be able to:>Fly in an airplane to a destination annually, something limited to the very wealthy up until the 1980sSo you're bitching about sea boats because you're fucking dumb.>These guys went down the opposite route.Derp you make it sound like only one person can build those fuckers. Crazy idea, if someone else could make it for less, they would. China isn't barred from making watercraft. They're probably not cheaper because:>Demand for boats less>Freight costs of shipping boats is more>More expensive to make a seaworthy craft vs scoote
>>62186289BasedCapitalist complainers are usually empty bitchers who pretend like they know more than the market and can set prices better. It's these same retards that tried to set prices and output for the Soviets and saw all that shit fall apart.>>62184976> it's easier for themNo one has a monopoly on small watercraft production. If someone could actually sell this shit for anything close to $1400 at a profit vs $20k then they already would. So you're almost certainly wrong. And if your dope ass has somehow managed to out do all the watercraft industry and mechanical engineers that have looked at this before, probably not, but then you should go into business
>>62184976>Neither of these materials are actually expensive or necessary.Wrong. Carbon fiber and titanium are absurdly expensive, especially when you want them in unusual-to-config designs, and you can only get a half-decent deal if you buy in massive bulk, otherwise you're dealing with potential chink scammers who will try to offload reject-steel on you, which will cost you money (and reputation) when your customers need warranty work because of your product falling apart. These products cost that much because they're boutique as fuck, i have only seen this product in a movie once and nothing until OP pulled out the buttplug and made this thread. Overpriced? sure, but nobody on this board, even with money, would be able to make and sell these for less and be in the green. Also they're just a meme version of a jetski, which you can use without needing to practice, and you can just sit on it and relax, no skill required.
>>62186200>if you don't have a million dollars, you're lower classLiterally every kid knows this retard

>>62186934That's almost every attempt at a genuine thread these daysI don't know if its bots, retards, or larping third world subhumans, but I also don't know if there is meaningful difference between the three to care enough to differentiate them.Internet is getting to be a real lonely place if you have critical thinking and nooooticing skills
>>62184899if these are Made in Canada by Canadians. (not from india) and do not contain planned obsolescence. Is repairable (if your keen) then yes I would pay $20k
Why do they need bike helmets? Are they surfing on shallow water or something?
