my local grocery store is begging for pennies...i wouldn't be surprised if their value goes to 5 cents.
>>62186836Didnt they strip out the copper years ago? I think they are all worthless.
>>62186892appears to be the case
Cash will be made more and more inconvenient to use until everyone goes digital.
Copper is maybe suspiciously cheap, you can get a pound of the stuff for the same price of a gallon of milk. Is copper really that abundant?
They should honestly skip the nickel as well. Go straight to the dime as the cheapest base unit.

Is copper really that abundant?i mean, i think it has been cheap for a long time. your house is full of it. meth addicts or whatever aren't making a fortune stripping abandoned houses of the copper wiring. probably only get two days worth of drugs for 80 hours of effort.

>>62186981Pennies made cash inconvenient. Now companies will just price stuff as9:95Instead of9:99Now you just need to get Trump to force stores to include the taxes in the sticker price and cash payments will be functional.
Another thing I've noticed is that nickels are vanishing from circulation in my local area. I mostly pay in cash so I noticed right away that vendors no longer have nickels in the register. US nickels are still a 75/25 copper/nickel coin and I expect the government to cancel their production next
>>62187215Copper is back up to covid prices/ 2021 shortage price at over $6 a pound for bare bright scrap in my area. It’s about 2x the normal price again. If the price of diesel doesn’t come back down to mine it soon, it’ll continue to increase. If you want exposure buy rolls of 14/2 (12/2 if you’re American) residential building wire from Costco. You can easily resell it on fb marketplace or by calling electrical companies. It’s also a nice thing to throw in a prepper stash so you could run a couple plugs and lights in your innawoods shack.
