in the late 1980s yet lives in a dilapidated shitty house, worst in the area, surviving on pension. How can people so easily fritter away 2-3 million (from my best estimate) and not invest at least some of it wisely?

The more money you spend, the less you have.
Ironic, isn't it?

sounds like he's living pretty comfy in a paid off house. are you going to befriend him and hopefully get mentioned in that will?

befriending near-dead boomers is my new investment strategy but they might outlive me

>dilapidated shitty house
All the house around me in the northeast are stone and brick. Why are you flyoverstates obsessed with cardboard houses?

Very true, just the thought of having a glimpse of the good life and wealth, fame, then ending up like that always gives me existential dread

you sound like a Europoor who doesn't really know anything about houses. If you have money and want a brick house, then you buy the property and have to pay to have development done there and build a brick house. The value is in the land, nobody gives a fuck about the house itself.
>oh noes le house is made of wood and not stucco like my hut in Slovenia
That's not something people really care about because the building is temporary, you're supposed to tear it down and put something else there if you can afford to do so. That's what I heard people with money do, anyway.

If only the prices would reflect that. To get house value below 20% of land value, you have to own a ranch. And becoming chronically ill from cancerous poison and mold in the drywall isn't that good an investment either.

Well WTF song is he famous for?
