How do I begin my new career as a rare book dealer?
You must first create the universe.
kneepads
>>62204623>cigarettes>whisky>forget you're lucifier
>>62204649Working on those. Will have to get the proper attire, although it's very hot where I live so going to be difficult to make it work.
>>62204623Let's start with the basics. You'll need a mix of these babies:>Cash (for buying)>Rare books (for selling)Are you at this level yet?
>>62204623>How do I begin my new career as a rare book dealer?kill yourself
>>62204623You know how there are jobs that are NOT for people who deal in the real world? This job is at the bottom of that list. It's not for you. It's for those of US who are part of the tribe but too stupid to be in the lucrative tiers.
>>62204623This is such a retarded question. A rare book dealer knows what he needs to do and hence not ask this question. You're a fucking larper not a rare book dealer. Now if you were asking HOW to become one that would be a valid question yours isn't.
>>62204750Very good. I have the cash (for buying) but no rare books (for selling). I'm planning to deal in occult books of course.
>>62204623>book dealerall books are free
I buy rare manuscripts and alchemical stuff from Christies auction. Have a couple Francis Bacons.
>>62204878This is the male version of being a crystal seller, so good luck.
>>62205588CHECKED>crystal selleris that bad?I assume you mean the minerals
>>62205555>I buy rare manuscripts and alchemical stuff from Christies auction. Have a couple Francis Bacons.holy CHECKED
>>62204623I've dealt in rare books before. Contrary to what that movie portrays, bibliophiles don't have money at all. Those who have, already have agents that represent them in auctions and deals. If you like books, you'll love the hustle. If you don't, you'll die of boredom.
>>62206614What type of rare books are most commonly dealth around would you say?
>>62204623Are you a Morrowind NPC by any chance?
>>62205588Far from itCrystals arent rare, a 100 or 300yo book is
>>62204623One of my favorite movies. Also, being a rare book dealer must be one comfy job.
>>62204860I deal in rare threads. This one would never go to auction
>>62206614 >bibliophiles don't have money at all.Shit that means it's a buyer's market. They will be cheap and busting your balls to lower the price. Instead of bidding higher because they think you have a rare piece.
>>62208074You are just trying to lower the price.
>>62208056>Also, being a rare book dealer must be one comfy job.Be feast or famine nowadays.
>>62204623Had somebody like that come through at work a couple of times and we had the time to talk. Apparently you'll be competing with the kind of dudes that are going the unqualified yapping flea market route online, the whole x amount of stars and google reviews will be q pain in your ass and the acquisition of old books is a sorta masquarade deal as in xou either are able to mask yourself as some sorta academic cunt or them mfs who hold that shit wont sell to you. So if you are ready to deal with internet flaming and hating niggas, deal with google and their rating systems, deal with customers take care of marketing for your specific audience which will most likeley cost you money since this is not an instagram sales op, curate the self image of a professional that will allow you to then curate an external image, consistently and are willing to put in the hours and cut corners by forgoing your comfort and putting in an extra buck to have a book binder make the thing look pretty again since most people trying to sepl their antiques have not taken care of them (more than likeley) then do it. Again them the things i got straight from the source but thats about as much insight i got from the pro as well
