Is 550k liquid enough to finally retire
>>
it depends on age, but no
>>
>>62211049
maybe if you don't have to pay for housing
>>
>>62211049
no;)
>>
>>62211049
FIRE Zimbabwe?
>>
>>62211049
yes, just move somewhere with low cost of living if you don't mind living frugally
If you just want to neet the rest of your life and just live off of dividends/stock growth or leaving it in a HISA, I suggest maybe moving to the philippines, thailand or vietnam.
you can even do this in your 20s, but the risk is higher the younger you are
>>
550k all in STRC is median income.
>>

and zero risk
>>
No.

The way I think about it is that there are levels to freedom:
Level 0: Freedom from coercion to action (i.e., not being trafficked or a slave)
Level 1: Freedom to not have to be with anyone, at any time, anywhere you do not want to be with (i.e., no need to at work to cover your expenses)
Level 2: (unscoped): Freedom to be with anyone, at any time in history, anywhere you want
(scoped): Freedom to be with anyone alive, at any proximate time, anywhere on Earth

For me, I am shooting for Level 1 freedom. For me, this means that I need at a minimum $50k income generated from my investments. I want to be conservative so 5% returns on investments. The reciprocal of 5% is 20, so I would need $1 million (20 x $50k). But this does not take into consideration drawdowns, weird life circumstances, inflation, and other unknown scenarios. Thus, you need a margin of safety. So, for me, I multiply by 2. So, for me the minimum is around $2 million (for me).

Dumb idea to put all of it (or maybe any of it) in STRC
>>
>>62211410
>STRC
>There is no guarantee for STRC of returns, liquidity, or future performance. STRC is neither a bank deposit, nor FDIC insured, nor regulated in the same way, and does not have the same regulatory and other protections as bank accounts, money market funds, treasuries, or similar instruments and as a result may not be a comparable investment. STRC’s variable annualized dividend rate as of May, 2026 is 11.50%, based on $100 stated amount; current trading price and effective yield may vary; current rate is not indicative of future rate, rate subject to monthly adjustment and may be significantly lower; cash dividend is not guaranteed.

Literally, says that on its website as a disclaimer. What do you mean 0 risk? It's preferred shares. The dividend can be cut at any time. People invest in this and when the ponzi breaks, they lose their life savings like the retardards that they are. Read the disclaimers before putting your life savings into a financial product.

senior citizens retiring now need at least 1.5 million
>>
>>62211049
Sadly not for me.
>>
>>62211049
It depends on where you live and what your desired lifestyle is. In many parts of europe it's easily possible, especially if you are single and not a big spender.
>>
>>62211049
Yes, if your goal is to just NEET in a LCOL area.

>Buy house for 80K-100K in nowhere town in flyover state with no jobs
>Put the rest in S&P500, frugally live off gains
>>
>>62211049
If you put it all on black you have like a 50% change of doubling it
>>
>>62211415
>The reciprocal of 5% is 20
> I want to be conservative so 5%
The conservative wht is 3%, and some really conservative people go as far as to say 0,5%.
Don't get me wrong, I agree with 5%. But it's not conservative
>>
>>62211049
If you're willing to move to SEA and live very modestly, you could be OK.
>>
>>62211049
Yes put 500k in a stock with 5% + divvie yield. Move to an extremely low cost area.
>>
>>62211049
700k cash rn returns almost exactly 2k a month. there are videos on youtube how to survive on 2k a month pretty nicely in SEA
>>
>>62211423
Michael Tragedy himself shills strc daily on this board...are you fucking new?
>>
A dividend growth port with a little covered call on the side yiedling 5 to 6% could also grow nav another 4 to 5% if you dont choose dogshit. You would be easily paying zero taxes too.
If you have a bunch of pretax ira that isnt liquid...liquify that shit by going all in on gpix and roth convert until the return of capital dividends bring your basis to zero.
>>
>>62211049
In short, no.

In long, you could move to a cheaper country and live well for decades, and then kill yourself when it runs out. That would probably be a better life than what most people get.
>>
>>62211049
maybe in like Thailand or the Philippines?
>>
>>62211049
Heeeeeeell no..I mean fucking heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell no.
>>
If you don't mind living in ecuador
