Vidya are (if you can distract yourself from the fact that you are doing something incredibly sedentary, unsexy, and unhealthy) pound-for-pound the most dopamine you can get for your money, by far. Netflix is cheaper but won't put you in the kind of flow state that kills pain unless you're some kind of hyper empath turbonormie. Drugs are good but too expensive. A tank of gas or a few boxes of 5.56 cost as much as a video game but won't come close to the 20+ hours of mind numbing time-killing "activity" as a good vidya. The cost of doing most physical hobbies has been so gaped by inflation since 2020 that it makes grocery inflation look like peanuts in comparison. Even fishing will cost you unless you are in a prime location.You can ascend and get all your dopamine from watching 5 second charts and free to play app store games. You can even go on walks outside at the same time. This is best, but it is a monkish lifestyle.
