My manager told me today that the hiring bar in 2021 was so low, that companies lowered their hiring standards to hire as many people as possible, had those people applied to the same jobs in 2026 they likely would have gotten rejected.

On the flipside, how does it feel to be looking for entry level work, when the older generations 5-6 years ago had it much easier than you?

yeah don't you remember the absolute midwittiest women and retards "learning to code" and "cyber security" for some 3 month bootcamps and getting $130k salaries at startups that all failed or big companies that eventually just cut them all

>how does it feel to be looking for entry level work, when the older generations 5-6 years ago had it much easier than you?

Eh, I've found complaining about people who had it easier than me never really helped my day to day life. Also I have it a lot easier than a lot of people. I could've been born some disabled girl in a Filipino slum. Most of those people are laid off now. I know plenty to moved to a high cost of living areas and got expensive mortgages thinking their 6 figure salary was forever.

100 IQ women or tards programming and doing cybersec seems like such a horrorshow scenario to me, holy shit. Like, they wouldn't be useful for anything -- not really. Just directing them to write that new CRUD script.

Nigger at the start of COVID tech nerds hired code bros off the streets. I am not kidding, you solved fizzbuzz live in an interview and you were IN.
what a time kek

better than the vibecoded shit we have to accept now. the Youtube hickups SUCK man
>>
Yes, we hired some useless zoomer where I work and there's no way he would get the job now.
>>
There are some rather silly but energetic fellows in India who vibecode for $5 an hour. Why should I hire an SSRI pill with legs to code for six times that? Explain.
>>
got a job in 2021
got fired in 2026

checks out

Simple economics. Lots of money was flowing so companies had money to throw around. This isn't a personal indictment on either party. It's just the way it goes. There have been always been changed to who has the power - employees or employers.
After the GFC, it was becoming a nominal trend to ask potential hire to log into their social media accounts during the interview so they could snoop around and make sure you weren't up to anything that would cause them to question your characters.
As much as you'd like to think that all of those people who got hired in 2021 are now destitute and broke, as if some cosmic justice was laid down, the opposite is true. People can make career defining moves during periods like this and they probably have made several job hops/promotions and are doing just fine.

companies are reigning in spending which means hiring becomes more selective, so candidates get nit picked for retarded shit. also certain perks are become rarer. i was hired as a fully remote senior analyst in 2021. now i'm a senior manager and grandfathered fully remote. everyone else is loosely enforced hybrid, maybe 1 day a week in-office. i recently hired a manager under me and the role had to be hybrid. "they" wouldn't let me hire a remote worker without going through some insane VP approval process.

oh and between 2021 and today we outsourced (by the decree of the execukikes) about 100 senior analyst jobs. we don't really hire senior analyst anymore -- it still happens, but it's much rarer. so i guess in that sense, hiring has become more selective: you won't get a senior analyst job (in most cases) unless you're a brown, shit stinking indian who lives in india.
>>
>>62220063
analyst is not a job anyway
gemini will do it for 3 cents per hour in two months
>>

that's nice, dear.

Generally this applies to tech roles, due to the growth in the sector and the lack of technically qualified people they were willing to hire on and train up.
Now? they want candidates that can start without training and operate inside the team straight away with minimal oversight or coaching, and probably planning to cover entry-level with AI agents
>>
>>62220848
Also, yeah outsourcing, they will post jobs, let everyone in the west apply, say they found no one, rinse and repeat a few times, and then stake the claim they should just hire abroad, because its cheaper
>>
It's the luck of the draw. There was a whole section of boomers and gen x that sleepwalked into tech jobs in the 80's and 90's right off the street because the demand was so high. And the truth is almost none of those guys would get hired now.

The brutal reality is that life isn't fair and you have to make a play with the situation you have.
>>
in 2021 someone emailed me randomly and offered me a 60k fully remote job. I didnt even apply or interview. im still working there
>>
>>62219146
nobody was hiring in 2021

this entire thread is anons talking about tech jobs that all went to india. So apparently indians have the mistaken notion that there was a lot of hiring going on in 2021 because they got hired. And apparently this board is now all indians.

but back in the real world, nobody was hiring in 2021. People were getting laid off or idled by the millions.
>>
>>62220920
60k gross lol

of course no one wanted this job
>>
>>62221339
Kek probably true. Big fat wagie turd of a job.
>>
why do people lie about this anyway
I applied to multiple jobs in 2021 and even lied and kept getting ghosted with my fake credentials.
