Let's say I had a large supply of small disks composed of 95% copper and weighing ~3.11 grams. How could I make money off of them. Taking them to a scrap yard as-is isn't an option, I could melt them into ingots, but I don't think the scrap yard would take those either. I could sell them on eBay but I don't think I'd get spot price for them. Any suggestions?

basically you'd have to do a bit of research about the final most desirable product, which I assume is 99.9 refined material because electronics in developing nations is driving up the cost.if your product is only partially desirable, then quite frankly be a lower-tier metal dealer. you would search out refiners and sell them your bulk outright or commission them to refine your disks. even if you refined it all yourself, you lack the resources to milk the full scale of copper's profit because the ultimate high-price destination is overseas.
>>62219342Melting US coins for profit is illegal. Separating cupronickel is not an economically viable activity. Your best bet is to just leave the "disks" in their current form and seek gainful employment.
>>62219342Selling them as raw material will get you the lowest returns, you need to add value by stamping them with commemorative designs. Did you steal them from an old souvenir coin pressing machine?
>>62219342Don't melt them down, that's too much energy for not enough profit. Just sell them as is. There's groups of out there that think they'll need them someday to barter for things when the "collapse" happens and they'll pay way above raw copper value for copper pennies. I know because I like to collect coins, and the first thing that always sells out on those sites are things like 1 oz fucking copper rounds that are selling 1000% over spot.
>>62219342Shave a little bit of material off from around the edge of each disk, then melt down the shavings and make more disks.

>>62219349>BBC. (Big Copper Coins)You had one job
>>62219342You need to dilute the product with .9999 copper and you'd need a lot of it, otherwise the federales will be on to you and your illicit smelting operation. But in all seriousness >>62219494>Just sell them as is
I dont even know chemistry, but you dissolve in i believe nitric acid, and then you can cement out the copper with iron i think...maybe zinc. You could also plate it out in an electrolytic cell but that would take longer and require even more equipment. You could pro a ly get a higher purity though. After that melt it
