If there's no staking right now how is chainlink secure exactly? Can't the node operators do whatever the fuck they want? wtf is CLL doing?
there is staking, sweetie
>>62228349chainlink is replacing "just trust us bro" with "just trust a fat russian bro"
>>62228349independent node operators, many who provide other blockchain services. these are proper devop teams, not random "nodes"if they attempt to collude with other nodes then they will suffer severe reputational damage
>>62228476so it really is "just trust us" right now. I'm not fudding they just need to get the ball rolling soon
>>62228551well trust the node operatorsi doubt staking will change anytime soon, they don't need to change it, it's a rewards program for us early stakers, there's no mature market at this point and won't be for 5-10 years
>>62228566> rewards program> 4% on a token with 9% dilution each year
>>62228349For CCIP, staking only makes sense if malicious DONs can be punished by a trusted committee that votes to slash if it detects wrongdoing. That's essentially what we have now, where CLL implicitly will expel nodes that are naughty. Instead of collateral, what is at stake is the node's future participation in CCIP. They've strung nodes along for years using this premise.
>>62229667There have always been 1b tokens. Staking right now is just a way to make sure you end up with a bigger slice of the 1b pie compared to if you didn't stake. Only brainlets think of "muh dilution"
