I want to try options trading. I've always been too scared to try it. Everytme I open up options chain, it's too intimidating and I think I'm going to accidentally do 100x leverage on some dumb trade.

you are genuinely better off asking chatgpt. but essentially you buy a call and sell a call with the same expiration but different strikes, youre still directional but your losses are limited and so are your gains. usually by a lot too.
>>
>>62229224
As long as there is time remaining before the expiration date an option that is still OTM won't be worthless, that's why I would sell before then regardless, the time decay on the volatility component of the option value (which is 100% of the value of an OTM option) ramps up significantly around 1 month out

Angela Rayner. - Lefty twat. Not sure what markets will think.
Ed Milliband. - Massive lefty twat. Green fuckwit. Markets won't like him I'd imagine.
Wes Streeting. - Gay twat but the furthest right of a lefty bunch of twats. Probably the best call for markets.
Kier Starmer. The twattiest of twats. I'd say markets might appreciate the continuity but doubtful since stability has gone out of the window anyway.

Memory/CPU chips are the new gold, how do you put a price tag on that? Is MU/SNDK/INTEL/AMD really overpriced, or is it hysterically UNDERVALUADED?
Anyone working in tech knows that AI is already conscious and quickly teaching itself how the human brain works. AGI is possibly a couple of weeks away. Once that happens we'll see incredible advancements in the blink of an eye just like in the movies. Plus we have the strongest economy in US history and the Fed is juicing the market, so there is unlimited money to pump up our bags. Not to mention the trillions on the sideline eager to get back in so let me set the record straight:
>S&P will reach over 9000 this year

It doesn't matter how i sound in your head , how does it sound in the consumer's head? When a consumer sees a higher priced item they immediately assume the quality is higher. Therefore the consumer perceives quality to have doubled over the past few years on almost all goods. That's why retail sales are booming. That's why the housing market is roaring. That's why SEMICONDUCTORS ARE ROARING. That's why S&P is headed to 9000 and the 10Y is headed to 9%

A vertical spread is when you buy a strike more in the money and sell a strike further out of the money with the same expiration date. Your max profit is the difference between the 2 strikes times 100. They're based af because you lose a lot less money to theta. They work because as the underlying goes up the further in the money option goes up faster, thus the difference between the two strikes widens
>>62229243
Don't listen to retards like this. Options and especially spreads are basically the only way to make good money without taking on as much risk. You can make a 2x on a 5 dollar spread you paid $1.50 for if the underlying goes up 15%, meanwhile you would have needed to buy $1000 of stock for the same gain.
>>
Options really arent that hard
>buy a call/put
Limited loss (premium paid)
>write a call/put
Unlimited loss

If youre starting out, start with startegies that only involve purchasing options
Then you can move onto writing some, and covering them with the underlying or other purchased options
Once youve figured out how they work you can start looking at retarded quant math nonsense, and lose all your money with confidence

I'm going to try options trading, but what should I try to start off?

How do you know the theoretical maximum loss you could have on an options trade? I only want to do options trades where the options expires worthless rather than blowing up my account
>>
>>62229229
You can't really talk about "safer". Its ultimately a game of probability.
Is it more probable the company will reach your strike price? Yes. Is it more probable the company will dump the same amount? Yes. These things are in balance

>How do you know the theoretical maximum loss you could have on an options trade?
These are called calls. For maximum boringness buy at the money calls. You will make shit gains (less than +100%) but it's good for a beginner.
>>
>>62229305
cant you do options trades that aren't leveraged?
>>
>>62229309
I meant to say that the instrument with a defined maximum loss is called calls. You only lose what you paid for.
>>
>>62229304
Which broker? Depending on your brokerage they'll let you take on positions that have limited risk. If you buy options the most you can lose is the premium.
>>
>>62229304
The max loss is the full price of what you paid if you let it expire worthless. Sometimes I let that happen but sometimes I get out early if its not going well. Don't rely on what some random guy on 4chan tells you
>>
>>62229310
Why the fuck would you want to do that? Options are precisely FOR leverage.

Isn't it funny that GPUs were used primarily for video games only a few years ago. They're one of the pinnacles of human technology, it's weird that they were used (or at least marketed) as an entertainment thing for so long. If you do a spread instead of a regular call, you cap the upside which in terms of convexity means you actually bend it back to a more linear shape. you might as well be a bobo doomer by buying a call spread. buy a call (otm) like a real BULL
>>
>>62229309
>>62229311
You have no idea what you're talking about. Both calls and puts have loss limited to what you paid for going to 0. Also at the money calls make more money for smaller moves vs out of the money calls/puts, but you have to put more upfront. You're thinking about how you can do bigger multiples during big moves with out of the money options, but that doesn't mean you make more money necessarily.

Basically the way Delta and gamma work you make more money per $1 change in share price the more in the money the option is, and also lose less money per $1 change in share price the more out of the money it is. That's why options are based af

Bull call spreads are a valuable instrument in some places, for example, across earnings. The chances are good the full width will be captured without paying the inflated prices of regular calls.
But yeah, for options you only ever should use either plain calls or call spreads.

Solid progress diversifying from UK government bullshit and higher oil and natgas prices fuelling recovery.

Their carbon capture project in Denmark is ahead of schedule as are a lot of Norwegian field wells coming online this year.

If they open north sea again the upside potential is massive. If they don't I've got a slow grow solid dividend producer during a time of elevated prices.

640kb of ram really is more than anyone seriously needs for a computer but we have simply ran away with inefficiency
the fundamentally important things computers do are simply push and pulling from a database then doing math to it none of which needs to ever be more complicated than what the apollo mission was doing with a fraction of the power
ai generated furry daiper porn and asking grok basic questions google could just as well answer 20 years ago is just the current manifestation of decadence

the few exceptions where more processing power is actually needed all lie in research simulations which would realistically be a tiny market if we allocated resources efficiently

it's not really a new phenomenon
they could have rereleased the exact same hardware over the last decade with just aesthetic changes and people would have still ate it up and begged for more - it's not really about the quality of the thing

Burry seething lmfao
>Michael Burry urged investors to scale back exposure to surging technology stocks, saying the current market environment has reached historically dangerous extremes reminiscent of prior speculative bubbles.
>The famed investor, best known for predicting the 2008 housing collapse, said investors should “reject greed” as enthusiasm around artificial intelligence and momentum-driven trades pushes valuations sharply higher.
>“An easier way for most is to simply reduce exposure to stocks, to tech stocks in particular. For any stocks going parabolic reduce positions almost entirely,” Burry wrote in a Sunday Substack post.
>“Shorting is not the answer. It is not something most people should ever do,” he said. “Right now it is expensive, in general, to buy put options and directly shorting stocks can still cause significant pain.”
>“The idea is to raise cash, and prepare to put it to work when it makes more sense to do so,” Burry wrote. “History tells us that even if the party goes on for another week, month, three months or year, the resolution will be to much lower prices.”
So sell all your neon green shit and go sit in the cuckchair on the sidelines while everything moons and you´re holding cash bags fucking kek.

Pretty much yeah. Only other option would be pay off any debt you have, but I think the market will be green for at least another couple of months before you may want to stop putting money in to pay off debt.

I would say procure assets like houses/solar panels to diversify away from a massive bubble pop, but it's pretty much too late for those.

Current Market Cap is 2x Price to Sales Y/E 26 and 1 - 0.8 price to sales Y/E 27.

There are execution risks and financing risks for the SBVs but GRRR have minimal debt, like $15M or so and over $90M free cash on hand.

If they say "build giant windfarms that happen to be also inefficient", I listen.
If they say "we have prepared a solution for the company to aquire a different plot in a different state", I again listen.
If they say "how about we build a nuclear plant some safe distance away to fire this datacenter", I say "now we're getting somewhere".
If they say "we have no solution, we are just opposed", I say I have no pity.

I not knowledgable enough to speak to its benefits. I have seen the drawbacks though clearly enough however to see that inviting datacenters into your community is akin to letting a wolf in the sheep pen at this point in time.

Should I YOLO into ADBE with $10k? It's on fire sale right now and there's literally zero proof AI is having an adverse impact on their earnings. Zilch.

I'm assuming the bar chart is earnings. That shows the price crashing while earnings remain stable. Makes no sense.

The bottom graph is volume. You’re right about the earnings/stock price not making sense. I would guess that investors are waiting to see who is picked to replace the current CEO. Lots of unknowns until then. Even the buy back didn’t trigger a rise in price. If you’re comfortable with a risk go for it. Normie investors can be retards sometimes.
