2 billion new shares is likely more than all the shorted shares; and most of those new shares are going to institutions. For what? For Ryan to pinch pennies at another legacy e-commerce business? To boost share price to the average that people were buying at a few years ago? For the price of letting the shorts off the hook cheaply? I think Ryan just fundamentally wants something different from shareholders. He's not a malicious hedgeplant or anything, but he doesn't seem to want moass, at least not yet. He's deliberately calmed down the turbulence on several occasions instead of waiting for a bigger jump to dilute for more money.
