How did the Japanese become so poor?
>>
A nation can survive a 30 year bear market but it's enough to cripple a generation or two financially.

>go from nuked to #2 economy because america gibs+trade favoritism
>america freaks the fuck out and starts throwing up trade barriers
>the shock of going from america's chosen nation to rival overnight fucks the economy forever, never had time to readjust

Honorary Eastern Europeans

Many Eastern Euro countries are doing better than Japan.
>>

They're not really that poor. Annual income means very little without knowing the cost of living. Japan has a very low cost of living for a developed country, they are also for the most part an ethnically homologous high trust society which has financially significant knock-on effects like middle class people can feel safe living in a big city, taking public transportation, letting their children walk to school, health care, food, security etc...

The yen is also weak compared to a lot currencies because Japan has long had a policy of debasing their currency to make their manufacturing more competitive globally.

Japan is a much larger economy than any eastern european country in fact is the 4th largest economy in the world beaten out only by US, China and Germany.

So they are basically like the Scandinavian countries, but earn 3 times less as a consequence of 3 decades of stagnation

I remember all the Japanese tourists in Switzerland. Now it's all arabs and indians. Sad. I miss them, life was better

Nominal purchasing power vs Parity purchasing power, OP...

I get that /biz/ isnt bright but c'mon
>>
>>62229711
I'm in my 30s and I still remember the Asian tourists in the 00s. I haven't opportunity since to check out if they're still coming.
Point is, if their wealth decreased it must have been a slow bleed since by the late 00s they could still afford Eurotrips.
>>
>>62229684
Yes and no. Scandinavian countries are pozzed (Sweden to a large degree) and their societies are deteriorating well below "high-trust". Japan is still among the most livable countries and you do need less to live there. Stuff is surprisingly cheap and you can live frugal.

30 years of being forced to be the worlds credit paypig. Only export companies could thrive, their domestic growth was tourniqueted

Japan will be forced to import millions of jeets financially soon
>>
>>62230078
Why? Nobody believes in the migration ponzi scheme anymore
>>
Japan will keep squeezing their youth to pay for their boomers until the island goes extinct.
>but muh rebound
Not happening. The inverted pyramid keeps shrinking with overall population but the shape doesn't change. The structure of what's happening doesn't change without a day of the pillow right up until there's hardly anyone left.
>>
>cerebras still not open
how complicated can this be?
>>
>>62229263
They are being targeted by jews because they don’t accept niggers.
>>
>>62229903
Okay smartass so you've identified that its a loss in parity purchasing power, but that still doesn't answer the question OP asked
How did the Japanese end up ranked #19 on the parity chart?
>>
>>62230996
The other countries imported more refugees
>>
>>62229383
These are three year old statistics. During this time, a few eastern european countries have surpassed Japan.
>>
>>62229263
Homogeneous mono ethnic nation states are usually poor.
Racism doesn't pay.
>>
>>62229994
Japan is poor, you make 20k a year as a software developer. It's the same money you can make in Lidl as a Swedish person.
>>
>>62231003
Lithuania imported more refugees than Japan? Both countries are shrinking in population btw.

Because Jews control their politicians
