Is this why retirees often die close to when they retire? Its like my body is telling me its time to get euthanised like an old person.
Maybe id feel this way with 10m in cash

so true, i'd much rather be working than retire. what would i do all day? boring!
>>

travel more or pick up a new hobby

getting into hunting cured my depression
>>
>>62231559
Yeah. Im actually disabled though, so I won by losing genetic lottery.
I live on a farm in a shack, cant walk properly or for a long time.
>>62231550
Yes. I miss chatting with people at work and doing something useful.
>>
>>62231537
go fishing man that shit is fun

it's hard to keep up motivation with no deadlines or schedule. Even harder if your budget is tight.

I like to metal detect. It's not a lot of activity but it's better than sitting on my ass in front of a screen. I also volunteer at the local soup kitchen sometimes just to get out and do something with other people. You need to find something other than internet and vidya, that's a dangerous addiction. If you are going to scroll all day get up every hour or two and run around the room.
>>
>>62231581
Yeah, I used to volunteer at emergency services when I was working, but now I only get a few days a month where I can stand all day using medication.
But yeah, atm its not even playing games as much as it is downloading and installing them and not even playing them.

screen time is a serious trap. So addicting.

I agree with the other anon about travel, if you can pull it off. Gives me something to look forward to having a trip scheduled.

side hustles are good too if you can find one that doesn't mess with your disability.

Watch twitch -> broodwar(tosis)/aoe2
I half made it but i know how it feels to do nothing and i miss turning my brain off during work
>>
>>62231599
Sounds like you need some type of ride. Mechanical wheelchair or whatever.
You gotta figure out something productive you can do or your brain will (rightly) make you feel useless.
Anything at all that other people find valuable.

Chronic arthritis, so its being too sore to do things. Atm, all I have is diet changes, and prednisone once a month where its like I have no problem.
I have to figure out I think how to do something at home or from home that feels useful for others
>>

My recommendation is to find something where you can help people who are helping people.
Like volunteering to help the volunteers at some charity however you can.
That keeps you one level removed from the crazy and the poors, but still lets you help out.

>Chronic arthritis, so its
This might only be a temporary fix, but if it were me, and you have any fat, I'd do some long fasts. Like 20+ days. Even if the relief is only temporary. You go 35+ days you might get some real improvements, but you'll probably be pain free at like 12 days.
>>
>>62231997
Ill have a look for something I can do in a chair I guess. Gotta be something
>>62232009
I do 1-2 day fasts pretty often. Im fat now, but my burn rate is garbage now that Im not moving much. Went from like 20k+ steps a day to a few hundred
>>
>>62232026
I mentioned fat because obviously to go 20 days you'd not want to be rail thin already. Anyway, its' just what I would do. The body is amazing at healing itself. 20 days sounds like a lot, but if you're unemployed, you'd be amazed how easy it can be. You just sit around watching tv and sleeping.
>>
>>62231576
Produce music. Takes a ton of time just sitting and thinking and usually takes a bit to become competent but is such a fun skill to have. Or if u like visual media do editing or compostiting(which is also tough but rewarding). Or do physical art. Or write. All take a lot of seated time.

You have slave genes.

The freedom to do anything you want, yet you choose to rot away doing nothing because your wagie genes do not know how to handle freedom. Sad!

I know a perma medical NEET

Their entire day is just freaking out about needing a piss, or how they just had a piss, or when they sit/stand they need a piss, cant go out because they need a piss, cant take a piss, feel like they need to but cant, cant go there , what if i need a piss?

"why dont you go to the doc-"
>WHY WOULD I DO THAT ANON??? HAHA
"well you haven't been more than 6ft away from that toilet in the past 2+ years"
>*incoherent ramblings*

Going to get into a horrible car accident one day because PISSS REEEEEE and every other road user is expected to somehow know this and part like the red sea

Between the endless piss talk, the complete lack of motivation, blasting tiktok at full volume and the fucking constant YAWNING im going to snap one day
>>

it starts at most people sucking at being alone. most people around you will be slaving away at work and talking about work all the time so you wont feel much connection to them. its hard to find neet frens to enjoy life with. if you enjoy the hermit lifestyle you'll be comfy
>>
The two things that helped me a ton during covid unemployment were keeping a consistent routine and joining a discord server for some social interaction. You didn't mention family/partner so I don't know if loneliness is even a problem, but if it is there are public discords out there for every hobby/interest now.

The routine is the main thing though. Don't let your sleep schedule, or meals, or hygiene go to shit. That creates a hole much harder to dig out of. Wake up at the same time every day, eat meals around the same time every day, and do chores or activities around the same time every day. Even if the activity is just watching a movie or gaming, that's still engaging your brain way more than doom scrolling.

I retired at 35. What you need to do is go outside.

Just walking for hours, sitting on a park bench, watching birds. Just go outside. Thats the key to staying mentally sound
