Unironically the best investment you can make right now are retro video games.

Its the only thing o can think of that has intangible and tangible value. Its not like gold or silver or bitcoin. The further we drift from 1980 and the weirder technology gets the more their value will rise and rise until you're paying 10k for a ps2 game.
>>
Still remember buying a fat original PS2 off a guy on Craigslist for $20 in 2017. It had four freaking controllers and the adapter to hook them all up. Two memory cards. Everything fully loaded. But I was still so paranoid that it wouldn’t work that I asked if I could test it. He met me in a gas station parking lot and hooked it up to the tv built into the back seat of his suv. Shit was cash. Worked great. Played some PS2 back there. All that for fucking $20. Shit was so wild. Like, just think of the time he spent doing all that. Wild how good we had it before memevid. Should have stacked PS2’s to the ceiling like shitcoins back then.

How goodnor vad will be the switch cartridges in the next two decades?
>>
>>62237455
They might be worth something but its not the same as something ground breaking like the ps1 or a Gameboy. That was the golden age of gaming when developers were still figuring it out and graphics were bad so they had to get creative to make games visually appealing
>>
>>62237336
Retro video games are literally more popular than ever. This is the top. Now don't mind me as I go emulate every game in existence on my chinese gameboy.
>>
>>62237487
Its been the top for at least 3 years now.it hasnt even started yet.
>>
>>62237483
Thanks. So any like sega ps1and supernes
>>
>>62237503
I'd focus on ps1 ps2 and Gameboy thats the era.
>>
maybe 10 to 20 years ago boss. seems like a lot of the easy money has been made. i knew it was over once zoomers grew up and started buying game cubes.
>>
>>62237336
buy an ad.
>>
>>62237591
Can you give me one reason why the value would ever go down on these products? I can give you several why it will go up.
>>
>>62237660
zoomers aren't reproducing. they'll all have a gamecube and then its over.
>>
>>62237741
I dont understand what you're trying to say.

You really, truly, cannot think of one reason why retro video games will eventually go down in value? God I fucking hate man babies like you. Video games are not investments and neither are pieces of cardboard with anime drawings on them
>>
>>62237772
I truly cannot. If you're implying that one day humanity is going to stop caring about video games and nostalgia then I might have to call you retarded.
>>
>>62237660
>Can you give me one reason why the value would ever go down on these products?
finite supply of manchildren
future manchildren will not share your nostalgia for these games
you value mario and snes games, ok, do you value atari games even more? commodore games? no, and you know why
epic games will add an auction house and zoomers of the future will be paying off houses with vintage retro fortnite skins
>>
>>62237793
My guy its not a game anymore its a piece of history like a priceless painting in a museum from a better time we can never go back to

>its not a game anymore its a piece of history
stone age arrowheads are pieces of history too, but they're a worthless curiosity and can be found anywhere
your only hope is that there will be some retro video game revival hype bubble
>>
>>62237854
This might be the dumbest comparison ive ever seen. Nobody gives a fuck about arrowhead and they never did. Even still, theres collectors out there that will pay thousands for one in good condition.

I realized this in 2012 when I saw pokemon SoulSilver being sold for like $60 and pokemon red was like $80. When people would say for years that you should buy the cards, I knew that if you just bought the games and kept the case and manual you would make bank years later.

Unfortunately, I was only 12 at the time.
>>
>>62237591
Dude CRTs are literally overpriced these days. Anything retro is going to sell like crazy. People just year. For the "good ol days". Perhaps not DVDs or VHS but definitely most things vidya related. Heck I am trying to buy as many game informers as I can(for personal enjoyment) before they become "rare".
>>
>>62237793
Atari and the commodore were terrible. Zoomers grew up hearing about Atari ET. Sorry but there is a certain timeframe of gaming that was so peak compared to now that people just want to go back. The only way the retro market goes down is if the future of gaming goes back to being peak.
>>
>>62237890
I even told the /biz/anons in 2019 that they should just buy the games instead of going after low hanging fruit like the cards. But no, they just had to believe they would outsmart Logan Paul.

Those games will be worthless once all of the Millennials and Gen X are dead.
>>
>>62237903
>the games my parents grew up playing were terrible, unlike games I grew up playing, modern games suck too btw, because nobody has comfy playstation 1 sleepover pizza parties with me these days
unaware unc moment
ps3 and later is when video games stopped being autismal shit, with lives, and high scores (inspired by the great PacMan ($20 on ebay))
anything historic and worth playing has a modernized remaster, experiencing it on real hardware would be nostalgic only to you
>>
>>62237999
This is why youre a retard with no money you cant even seem to grasp the fact that people arent buying these game to play them they buy them because theyre cool and you can play them. But for the most part its just something you put on the shelf and brag about.
>>
>>62237999
Dude Idk what to tell ya. Square Enix had its best work on the PS1 and PS2. All of Gamefreaks best games are playable on a DS/3DS. Animal crossing, Smash bros, the best entries were on the GameCube. SNES and NES revolutionized gaming. Nobody cares about Atarislop outside of dedicated collectors. Also your post is just disingenuous.
"Anything worth playing has a modern remaster" just say you don't understand Gen Z and go. Why do you think LARPING is being called out so frequently now by them. They're aware that many of their generation is just trying to act like they were always into Kingdom hearts or Silent Hill

I mean, they weren't bad, every video game enthusiast has to watch an hour long video game essay about chrono trigger without having to suffer through its "peak gameplay"
and play shadow of the colossus on an emulator
who would buy the game disk itself - idk, you can play it, you can watch videos about it

you only have 50 more years to wait
