I have never seen a single watch thread on biz even though it does qualify as a financial investment and holds value quite well.Discuss what you’re buying, Im Tempted by a Sea master at the moment.also link any useful website / video related to watches
>>62242323There’s been lots of watch threads but they trigger Janny for some reason so they don’t last long.Omega will forever be the “not a Rolex” brand. Truly the Pepsi of watches.
>>62242459I like Omega precisely bc it's not Rolex. Every retard wears a Rolex.
Nice jewelry, queer.
>>62242469You like Omega out of cope because you couldn't afford a Rolex. My dad has an omega, I have a 2024 Daytona Cosmograph, he has the same type of cope
>>62242469If you’re going to be a watch hipster, you should go all the way and get a Grand Seiko.

>>62243228> the point of wealth is statusWoman spotted. Dump it all to zero.
>>62243251Thank you for proving my point; your pic shows that “status signaling” is Jeet behavior. But watches are still neat. For me, it’s the precision of engineering and economy of space that make watches interesting.
Women are attracted to status. All jewelry exists to display status. This is why men wear jewelry. A watch is no different than earings and chains.

I have a daily wear citizen eco-drive. I used to think I wanted a rolex submariner, I even saved up for it, before realizing I had too many watches already and I didnt care about wearing my wealth.I live in a relatively safe city, but if I didn't, Id be constantly worried about wild niggers stealing my watch for weed and scratchers money.

>>62242323I wish the chinks would make a 1:1 copy of the QUARTZ brosnan seamenmaster Been waiting yearsNo I'm not paying 7k for a crusty used 30 year old watch
I've got some old watch I got from amazon years ago. all scratched up, paints gone, but it tells the time. most people I know don't wear watches now, but I carry on the torchalso NATO strap supremacy, fite me
>>62242323Watches are a scam, they're not rare, not difficult to make and there's nothing special about the ones most people collect and think have value. You can get a japanese miyota movement which will be on par with any of the name brands for $35. You can get a swiss ETA movement which will be the same as the miyota for $350. Most boutique brands shove the ETA movment inside a custom case and add a 10-20x markup. The only thing a few of the name brands do is take that basic movment design and make it in house. It's not like a ferrari where you're getting their own specially engineered V12 motor, here your rolex is still the same 4 cylinder shitheap inside a corolla except it says rolex instead of toyota. It's not until you start getting into watches that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars where you can say the movement is unique and actually rare. And if you wear any of these watches then the value goes back to the value of scrap metal because they get dinged up instantly.
>>62242323I have no value for them and I'd rather put that money to work for me. I can understand throwing a few hundred for something that tells the time because it looks good and is nicely engineered (even though I still won't wear one); more than that it's status signalling for jeets, goyim and yes, wealthy people because they fall for status signalling too.Not very different from Funko dolls wagie goyim love except watches less stupid.

>>62242459Rolex is the brown watch
>>62243595They don't know lol
I like G-shocks. Theyre the working man's luxury watch.I currently wear a baby-g that I fished from a thrift store and replaced the battery in it. It looks like it was left in the sun for literal years.
My Vostok Amfibia broke the spring some time ago (after ~50yrs of use) and since it's really worn out I looked at something new. My old Casio Illuminator (A168 I believe) in the drawer had a dead battery. So I went for a Timex Solar and I'm pretty happy with it. There's something nice about it's simplicity, and it goes well with any kind of getup.I never really understood the idea of pouring money into stuff like a common Rolex, unless you're going for an artisan complication watch where the mechanism itself is a masterpiece.Rolex puts you in a wannabe-rich category.
>>62242486I just don't like rolex, sorry.
I wear an old Hamilton khaki field watch. I think it's nice enough, and not completely over priced.
>>62243744oh yeah lol
>>62242323I wear the new Air King.
>>62248073How much did it run you?
I have a Patek Calatrava from the 60's, bought it for 5k a decade ago, probably worth over 10k now.As elegant as it looks, it feels foolish to wear so much money on your wrist, just to impress every 10th older man who is a collector. Just finna sell that shit desu.
>>62242323top signal
>>62248074$8200 including tax. I think msrp on them is about that now.
>>62248077It was mentioned earlier in this thread, but yes, Rolex is going down in sales. It used to be considered a legitimate investment to buy one, even at current year. Now? Theyre having more trouble than ever selling them.
>>62248073Based I have one too.
>>62248076That sounds like a kino watch. If you can’t geek out on a watch like that by yourself, and instead are thinking about impressing others, then you are a filthy casual. To atone for your plebbitry, you ought to give your watch to a trve WatchFag such as myself. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
>>62248093It depends on the model I think. If you could score a Bruce wayne at msrp, you could immediately resell it that day on the gray market for 9k profit.
Thoughts?
>>62248096Right on, King! Stay classy.
>>62248102Its a marketing ploy, watches do this all the time. I also personally really dislike the 3 inner dials design unless it includes a chronometer.
>>62248102I am an Omega hater, but I do like their Swatch collabs. Feels honest.
>>62248102>sneedmastersdo they know?
>>62248112>>62248109>>62248108Ya…it has terrible reviews…thought of it something slightly cooler than just the timex/casio option without being too pretentious
>>62248116Do a little research and you can find something better. You ever look at Seiko/GS?
>>62248116>le reviews
>>62248102That's a pretender, pic related is the real deal. Flown to the moon and back and the movement was actually used in the onboard instrumentation. Predating quartz watches, this thing is such high frequency that the sweep looks perfectly smooth to the naked eye. They don't have the technology to make them anymore.
>>62248122Naw don’t know anything about watches really…want to get one tho, what’s a good seiko/gs option?
Actually I would wear some of these if they released automatic versions using their robot made movements.
>>62248130Looks pretty cool, crazy how we lose the ability to make things…just like that Disney cgi cube thing the filmed marry poppins with…supposedly there was only 3, they don’t know what happened to them and they can’t make them anymore…weird
>>62248147Any GS with Spring Drive is absolute kínographie.>>62248150The point of collaborating with Swatch was for these to be accessible (i.e., quartz).

>>62248162>The point of collaborating with Swatch was for these to be accessible (i.e., quartz).Swatch makes cheap disposable automatics (sistem 51). They're not chronographs, but I'm sure they could make it happen if they really wanted (which they would never do since it would actually eat into smegma's market share.
>>62248167Wow they actually made new tooling, they couldn't make them a decade ago.>$6000 Yeah that explains it.
>>62248180Based WatchFag detected. Do you like cheap automatics? For me, it seems like quartz is superior when affordability is goal. If you’re going automatic, then it seems like you would want something n i c e, no?
Is the tissot prx the best watch under a grand?
>>62242323I'm investing heavily into the swatch x AP collab
>>62248207“Best” is a loaded term. The PRX is a kino watch (and it is very funny that Rolex ripped it off with le Land Dweller). I think it is uncontroversial to say the PRX is a top 3 <$1K watch. Also in the running are the Hamilton Khaki and the G-Shock.
>>62248218Is the automatic worth it over the quartz in your opinion?
>>62248269How much of a WatchFag are you? The quartz gives you the same external aesthetics as the automatic at a fraction of the cost. For normies, the external aesthetic is enough. But WatchFags will pay the premium for internal aesthetics.
>>62242323For me its the Garmin Forerunner 970.Battery lasts forever and i can track all my runs without needing my phone. Also it weighs like 50g and can do so fucking much more than any boomer piece of metal.
