>>62245525Pivoted from finance/stats w/ accounting minor, Series 7, 63, and CFA to code because I couldn't get a job as an analyst.Top 5 target school + internship or bust without real connections, full stop.
>>62245525you're switching from a career with lifetime stability to one in which AI is already eradicating middle management positions.
>>62245525KYS and buy chainlink
>>62245575Nigga you got a CFA?
>>62245851Straight up dog, took level I a year after graduating, 2 that June, applied to 50 jobs, got zero replies, went to work for Fidelity, got Series 7/63, experience qualified for Level 3, Fidelity Fund manager that knew me really well hired his cousin and I got a coding job two weeks after that. Everyone I know in finance is a larper. Some of my friends got rich so I went to HNWI events with them, and met "analysts" in NYC - they all got jobs via connections and talk about covered puts like it's space magic. Most of them don't have CFAs.
>>62245866Man it’s criminal how mid level schools sucker college kids into “BRO go to our top 100 ranked school and you’ll be the next Jamie Dimon!”Meanwhile Joe Fancy from the Hampton goes to a Wharton with a 650 GMAT and ends up as a VP at Goldman by 27
>>62245525why would you want to do investment banking? you probably don't even know what it is, other than """it pays a lot of money."""
>>62245886Absolutely, it's the whole meritocracy scam. I do think meritocracy was real between 1940 and 1980 or so, stuff was being built up, we needed moral and scientific high ground over the USSR, etc.
>>62245955how much of banking nowadays is old school banking like you go on the field of a promising industry and meet with some Joe Schmo who owns a pretty good business then you lend him your money to expand his business and take a cut from it
>>62245866damn what were those HNWI parties like
>>62245525Im gonna a become a massage therapist and only take clients if they sound hot on the phone.
