Yup. The bottom of society back then was like halfway decent income today. This is why fast food workers back in the 60’s were happy, but not only because of that, but because they knew they all had upward mobility and a huge middle class they would be apart of work thriving American communities.

Back then if you were working at McDonald’s and you were still there 10 years later it was because you owned it. Sometimes you’ll see news reports of some McDonald worker who hasn’t taken a day off for 25 years and they give him like a $50 gift card to Best Buy.
