Do I just write a lot of algorithm-approved slop in record time or something?

I tried for ten years in my European country. I don't know if it's the same for you, but here it's practically impossible unless you're the son, friend, or cousin of a well-known writer or someone with connections in publishing. Of course, you can self-publish and aim for smaller publishing houses, but you won't make a decent living.
>>
>>62254532
Well I mean we can't all make it of course. How do I become the exception?
>>
Be good at something first, then write a book. You skipped the first step.

It's one of three things:
1. Pure luck
2. Connections or nepotism
3. Already having a name for yourself in another area and transferring to writing books

Sure, marketing and word of mouth helps, but only so much, unless you have a big budget.

t. Hasn't sold a single book, but now I want to, just for the giggles and for bragging on this Inuit pottery forum.

A third of Europe has published a book in their free time, but who is buying.

What do I get good at? I suck at everything but valleyball and crossyroad
>>

And even if you have connections in publishing, what if they just print 500 copies of your book and don’t promote it anyway? Because that’s how they proceed with many works. Stuff is just dead on arrival.

Making a living as a published author sucks anyway, because you don’t make a great living and you don’t make great books either. And it’s not like books have been surging in popularity or prestige recently.

In the end, it’s better to separate being good at business and being good creatively, and avoid conflating them in one single activity where you’re just a cog in someone else’s capitalist machine. Use this pro-tip wisely.

You think i could make a lot of money selling a book about my new and legit physics theory (Einstein was a fraud)?

>Einstein was a fraud
Great title for a volume of poetry.
>>

Well i wont say it in the book but it kind of follows.

Spamming thousands of ebooks on amazon used to be viable. I’m not sure if it is anymore. Jeets, europoor slavs, chinks etc are probably all doing it now with AI.
>>
>>62254916
Yep all the ebook companies are now being spammed with ai written slop. It’s over for infependents
>>
>>62254916

AI is not good at books, contrary to popular belief.
>>

Step 1: Write a decent book.
Step 2: Approach a publisher while wearing a dress.
Step 3: Go to your first book reading as a regular man, deny ever wearing a dress.
Step 4: Don't sperg out on Social Media over the ensuing controversy, go on podcasts and just talk about your book while remaining reserved about the Trans issue.
Step 5: Write another book.
>>
>>62255190
I assume it's not good at writing whole books.
But if you map out the entire story first, then have AI write it incrementally it's probably alright.
>>
>>62255190
>>62255282
It doesn’t matter if ai is good at books or not, what matters is that the publishers are now drowning in a sea of ai slop that they have to aggressively filter which dramatically lowers the chance of new people getting published
>>
I tried to be a writer and got a book of publishing agents and none of them called me back.

Later on I realized if I had made my name "Charlize Rgoet" or some fake woman name I would easily have gotten published. There is a huge DEI push in publishing, besides all the other industries where women are now 700% more likely to be accepted than men.

And yet people will still gaslight you about 'hard work'.
