Why do people say there's "real money" behind AI unlike the dotcom bubble when that "real money" is from companies like Google "investing" in companies like Anthropic who then use that money to buy compute and equipment from Google, Google's "profits" are so massive because they invest billions into Anthropic who then has their valuation increase(nearly valued at $1 trillion on $20 billion revenue) as a result, that then shows up in Google's earnings as "profit" it accounted for 59% of their "profit" in their recent earnings, it accounted for more profit than the rest of their businesses combinedCircular financing and round tripping is a common theme of the AI boom, as it was during the dotcom bubble the difference is that now it's done by buying stocks and equity into companies rather than direct lending

>>62298814Yeah the IBM valuation is literally just a quantum play basically and people don't seem to grasp that. Do you think that a brand new quantum center in Poughkeepsie Fucking Nowhere New York is going to finally get enough stable cubits for enterprise clients to start paying for Quantum Computing? Then IBM is your huckleberry. And they ARE the lead horse in the quantum race, in my opinion, they do actually have the most cubits and have performed the most impressive calculations compared to other quantum companies. They're first to market as well. But if you're looking at IBM as anything other than a quantum play, eh. What else do they have? Mainframes are a forever thing but they're the farthest thing from a growth market. The IBM pump is fully quantum backed in my opinion.

>>62298947LLMs have created new mathematical proofs. The AI porn industry is a big deal. Same for AI companions. The upcoming 10t models (Grok, Claude, presumably ChatGPT) are excellent for cybersecurity.Ecommerce is booming again thanks to AI.Humanoid robots are making big leaps that companies like Boston Dynamics couldn't achieve because of VLA models (dependent on LLMs).Everyone and their aunt having an AI subscription is a big deal too.AI for virtual reality has also taken off. Things like hand, face, body, and positional tracking are essential for VR and AR applications. A big bottleneck that isn't purely an optics or ergonomics issue.I think there is overvaluation at play here, obviously, but the idea that this isn't transformative technology is an overly bearish position. There is a lot to be excited about. Keep in mind today is the worst AI will ever be.

>>62298947>saaaaaar tier codeUnfortunately the code actually works really well. The art AI makes is dogshit and easily identified and hated by zoomers. AI's ability to generate information, research, etc is full of hallucination and general fuckups. It's not liked and for good reason, AI is deeply flawed and failing to deliver on its promises.BUT the code fucking works. Claude is actually genuinely better than an entry level CS grad, not just an Indian, a real American one with real credentials. It can generate code competently and instantly, and requires way less tardwranglers than you'd think - as long as you prompt it method-by-method (rather than having it generate the whole thing at once), it's very capable. AI software fuckups are almost always the result of people using it wrong and trying to "magically" have it generate a whole website or whatever at once. This inevitably leads to some big security risk somewhere, a gay memory leak, it pulls in an unsafe dependency, whatever. But if you're not retarded you make it generate the code piece-by-piece and review it as you go and then it never fucks up at smaller scale tasks and your productivity is incredible. It can do grunt shit like test buckets flawlessly if you're not retarded. Saves fucking weeks, because you'd used to have to sic an intern on those tasks and wait for them to do it by hand. My opinion is that AI is going to replace exactly ONE job and that's code monkeys. Thats the one job that AI is actually going to replace. My fucking job, specifically. This is good news for tech companies by the way because they'll accomplish more work with significantly fewer employees. A handful of software architects whipping Claude.

>>62299003the code works but the codebases are terrible and horribly organized, leading to unnecessary bloat, duplicate functions all over the place and other shitty practices that can undermine any efficiency gained within a single function or code block

>>62299062I panican'd at 29.96 because I have ptsd from SBSW
>>62299012Well yes, you're right but I reiterate that this style of vibecodeslop is basically user error. The morons who generate these codebases have generally allowed Claude to architect the entire thing from the ground-up. That's vibe coders - "hey, make me an app" and it kind of works but of course you now have an unmaintainable code base that's going to be full of bad practices and it's also practically a black box (because you don't understand it). You have giant technical debt and no means to really fix it without a competent professional going over the whole thing with a fine tooth comb and bailing you out. And that's fucked up, which is why you see AI startups getting repeatedly buckbroken when they launch a vibe coded app that nobody in their company actually understands. However, it works well if you approach it differently. If you're a Software Architect you should still start by designing your software by hand, architecting all the methods etc, and then have Claude implement individual components piecemeal. "I need a method that takes this input and gives you this output" "now I need test cases for that method" and you can avoid the retarded shit because you've given Claude strict constraints and you're personally keeping an eye on the big picture to avoid all the ugliness and general retardation it would otherwise add. And then it's great, when you constrain it to small scale individual methods it actually is an very useful tool. It really used to be that a junior dev would take a week to implement test cases for some feature. That was One Sprint for Jerry the new hire. But now Jerry can generate that test bucket instantly and give it a cursory code review to make sure it's not retarded. That takes Jerry a mere fraction of a work day. See what I mean? If used right it's actually good. I kind of viscerally dislike AI but I really think it's going to be big for coding.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK I MISSED THE QUANTM BOTTOM

>>62299084Telling Claude what software stack I'm trying to build helps a lot. I'll usually preface a coding session by writing out a full document detailing exactly what I'm trying to achieve and what components I want to build with."HTML, CSS, JS, single file, Deno runtime, single-file sqlite database, use functions liberally with clean separation, ThreeJS and WebXR, I'm using X and Y models and assets that I have in Z directory. Here is my project file structure (list "tree" command)."Basically you just need to know what you're fucking talking about and what you want to build. Many can't seem to do this.
