went to redd*t because i'm horny, but saw this. now who do you think has pockets deep enough to buy these ads? do-gooder pro consumer groups? obviously a different issue than the ipo rule change, but it's getting the same kind of astroturfed treatment on reddit, elsewhere. if this sort of thing were bad for tptb, bad for wall street, discussions would be shut down. no-money idiots don't have advocacy groups willing to dump money on redd*t ads to get emergency grassroots campaigns. you're all being duped and fooled once again because the rule changes are bad for people that are exploiting the status quo to their benefit. i'm not smart enough to tell you all how this may or may not benefit you, but considering what i've seen i'm growing very skeptical of the "oh no, wall street is changing the rules to scam us" narrative that i'm seeing. it is a raging bull market and a once in a lifetime investment boom. obviously people should have some caution and discretion because you can get burned, but a portion of your 401k going into the most important companies ever to exist a little earlier than usual is not a reason to pee your pants and sell, and i'm beginning to believe it's actually very bullish.

I think its a cartel. getting your company listed publicly is a huge profit motive for the company itself and the company's owners. Realize now that essentially its being gate kept, they dont want it to be easier to get and maintain status on exchanges and indexes as a company, because that threaten's their monopoly on equity. A lot of good companies dont want to get put under full-spectrum SEC regulations, like quarterly reporting, because its costly, burdensome, and often not worth an already successful company's time. This could also ease private equity portfolio companies into the stock market.
>>
>>62318843
lulu is down 80% from highs and just beat earnings and now is down again. europe already has semi-annual reporting and companies say it's a good thing. the only people that like this nonsense are short-selling firms that are actually scamming your 401k every single day by draining liquidity and providing no value.

>but a portion of your 401k going into the most important companies ever to exist a little earlier than usual is not a reason to pee your pants and sell, and i'm beginning to believe it's actually very bullish.
The logic should be consistent. If your index looks to buy profitable growing companies at a "fair price" to remove the human error/emotion entirely then you shouldn't be making carveouts based on what appears to be vibes. That is what actively managed funds are for, which drives their fee structures.
The other extreme of this which is just to let every company IPO into the index if its private market valuation theoretically puts it in the index would be rife with abuse and fraud. And given how tightly controlled and illiquid most private markets are since the companies often control who gets to hold, when, how they can sell, and to who I think it makes sense for the SP500 to have pause on this.
The NASDAQ has always been the WSB degen of indexes anyway.

nasdaq is an exchange, not an index babe. but you're right there should be standards, i'm just not so sure the current ones are in retail's best interest, and i'm getting pretty skeptical of this whole fear campaign. i don't have a 401k and i choose my own investments so i suppose i have less reason to be concerned anyhow, but there's way too much worry and despair and not enough hope and optimism. that's the most important thing you should bring with you to the market by the way, without it you really have no chance. none of these doomers are making a dime.

What are the cheap but good places to stay at? Feel like I might wanna stay a month or two at some point
>>
>>62320216
I felt like Osaka was surprisingly cheap, especially compared to Tokyo. No problem finding lodging (I had a nice 25m^2 BnB for 230 bucks for 5 nights), while Tokyo is like 50% pricier, and it's harder to find an hotel or a bnb available for more than a few days. Though for a month or two maybe there are better ways than relying on hotels or BnB, maybe ask the /jpg/ thread on /trv/.
Plus Osaka is a great hub for visiting and doing daytrips in the surrounding areas (to be fair, Tokyo also is).
Other regional cities will also be cheaper, but I felt like Osaka was a good middle ground with big enough city with shit to do, daytrips hub, and price.
