The way I see it the majority of people haven't actually done any work with the big models, they got everyone hooked and rebuilding their workflows around them when token cost was basically a flat subscription model. They have now shifted to a price per token model after software companies already fired everyone and are now dependent, which seems pretty fucking bullish

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dancing_baby

>The "Dancing Baby", also called "Baby Cha-Cha" or "the Oogachacka Baby", is an internet meme of a 3D-rendered animation of a baby performing a cha-cha type dance. It quickly became a media phenomenon in the United States and one of the first viral videos in 1996.[1]

Every day I'm at the edge of my seat waiting for the price to go back up but it only goes further down. >>
>>62348660
I think the natural order of things is for upstarts that make it possible to run good but perhaps a little shittier models in house that are good enough. Look at the “cloud”. AWS and Azure got so expensive that it’s making more fanciacial sense to run your own racks and datacenters in house. The amount of money that would jump on this makes it too juicy for the market to work on
>>
>>62348714

I was always on the cutting edge back when it was cool and new and we thought it was going to be something. Me and my dad built home computers and we would get excited as fuck when the new more powerful cards would come out and we could upgrade. I grew up gaming competitively and played shit like counterstrike at a semi pro level and starcraft etc. the possibility seemed real that tech was going somewhere

its 2026 the most played games in the world are still shit like counterstrike and GTA that have been out for fucking decades. no one makes anything new. no one makes anything better. new movies suck, new games suck, new books suck. there have been zero significant advances or meaningful improvements for decades. everything is fake and gay and they just slap some new branding on some old bullshit and resell it to schmucks. third worlders shitting in the street in India are using the same smartphones as Americans and the only thing more efficient is access to pornography and the hot new thing is to give all of your money to a snake oil salesman that said in 2016 that he was sending a mission to Mars by 2022
>>
>>62348664
>>62348659
what you should ask is at what point is shit actually overvalued.

For companies like google, their cloud and AI departments are the most profitable for the company. OpenAI sucks but they're a pure AI play and have billions in profit there.

Hardware buildouts like semis and dram are supposed to be cyclical. Semis have been going up for 4 years relentlessly now, dram for about a year. At what point does supply exceed demand? But more importantly at what point does their growth in profits become outstripped by their marketcap and become dramatically overvalued?

Ask yourself- if SK Hynix collapses 90% tomorrow, is that just a recession for South Korea or a real depression?
>>

Summer in general can be low liquidity as law dictates that hedgefund portfolio managers & traders have to take several weeks off to ensure that there is no fraud taking place which would fall apart/be discovered if not constantly managed/hidden.

So a lot of the big calls aren't made during these months as everyone is on holibobs. They selled in May and went away (for a bit).

Had I just been watching the markets I could've exited close to breakeven earlier today. But nooooo I didn't. I hate myself! Right there was the exit I was looking for but nope, exit was barely even active and by the time I checked it was gone. I could've taken a bigger loss and then the window of opportunity would've been wider but nope. I really hate when it happens like that where the very opportunity I am looking for is just barely there which I believe has happened to me in the past. I'm so pissed, I could have exited but by market close I was down even further. I'll probably be 5 figures away from breakeven tomorrow. I hate myself! Had I just watched the market the entire 6 hours and 30 minutes it is open, then I'd have exited my positions in the nick of time and could've just stopped watching. I really, really hate how much I have to babysit my portfolio/stocks just to either sell where I want or buy where I want. It's not always enough to set limit orders because sometimes the situation may entail a different choice. At least I'm not all in. But this really sucks!

Hey, here's something fun I found from a few years ago. I made some picks (but didn't really execute on them) back then and you can see how well they've performed since.
The average of all my picks had an alpha of about 0.50 - half the gains the SPY would've had. Even my best pick, CMRX, was acquired last year and had 340% return since 2022, but an alpha of only 4.1.
If you were a bit of a memester and bought SOXL or NVDA and held it for 4 years, you made absolute fucking bank. Even a 6x from 2022 to peak, crypto and metals lagged behind those picks entirely

I almost wrote a capstone paper on how communities like this board, the bitcoin scene and wallstreetbets are more of a profession of one's political ideology than anything else when you take out the obvious gambling aspect. Iran was firing so many shaheds at the gulf the other day one of them slammed into an apache in the airspace above the hormuz. Whole time trump was acting like nothing happened just to keep the market solvent. And still, there are people (few now, but they were the majority even a year ago) in these communities who will gladly throw their entire port away if it means not compromising their values. You fucking formed an identity based around a transhumanist fantasy that was never going to happen in the first place. That fantasy was created to sell graphics cards after blender and video games stopped demanding higher specs from them. You had so little going on in your personality this fantasy became an obsession and now you actually think we're gonna make parity with a sentient biological organism by stacking NVIDIA products on top each other in a closet. You shouldn't have tied it to your gambling addiction. Probably a software engineer

It's very easy to get caught up in the narratives and make poor decisions. Sure, you can grab SPY and gold and bonds, but if the markets never crash, you'll just shit upwards and miss out on taking a calculated aggressive play.

In this case, what mattered was "what do tech companies need to grow aggressively" and it was chipsets (for AI hype). I leaned a little too hard into commodities this year (had great returns but didn't take profits as much as I should have) and got shitfaced on option leaps (lost like $4k buying near commodity top). I was the anon who posted a 10% return over 6 years a few weeks ago (and now 0%).

Anyways, if nothing else, underperforming the market is expected and I didn't shit my account down to catastrophic levels like I know some anons or /wsb/ has, so I live to fight another day

Iran targeted energy infrastructure in the gulf in late march. I don't really know where this "the balls" stuff is coming from. They don't really have to actually do anything except refuse to come to the table. As long as they do that insurers will not permit shipping companies to transit the strait. The only answer is a ground invasion now. If it went through flawlessly in a few weeks or months it could shore up the global economy. If that doesn't happen all of that nonsense you're talking about with the bailouts will literally just cause stagflation.

I don't know why everyone just chooses to view third world shitholes full of brownies as western societies that have governments beholden to their people or really anyone except themselves. There is no pressure being exerted upon the IRGC unless you physically go in and kill them yourself. Countries like cuba and venezuela have been under this level of sanctions and more for decades upon decades. The men born when these sanction regimes started are now dead or in retirement homes. All that matters to the iranian, venezuelan or cuban dictatorships is not looking weak. They will gladly let a third of their population starve and die in the streets, like mao and stalin did, before they ever admit they are weak. You're fucking delusional.
>>
>>62349084
Iran has already publicly stated they're preparing to retaliate, as I said unless energy infrastructure is destroyed then the market doesn't care if Iran kills thousands of Americans and damages American bases in the region, you're mixing your own political bias with money, that's why you're a brokie

For me, it was my cousin, who was a software engineer and got a bunch of money in his mid 20's. Before that, he always really struggled with making friends, getting pussy, acting normal around others etc. Even with the money his girlfriend and friends in tech were all total nerd virgin pokeman card types, like you said. The transhumanist stuff gave him something in current events initially when AI showed out. It was like a little kid eating at the adults table for the first time in thanksgiving. I think it gives software engineers and tech salesman type dorks a feeling of relevancy, that such trite nonsense is so prominent now.

Yeah, i dunno. To me it is just nerds who are not that smart. If you are a nerd you have to be smart. Nerds are into boring shit. The world's "smartest man" with the highest IQ ever wrote 8 dictionary-length books about traffic laws in new york during the turn of the century. None of this AI or software engineering shit is boring. It is fun. When something is more fun than it is boring, it probably won't make you money in the long run because fundamentals are boring. Good to gamble on though. Problem is, most of the people that gamble on it and aren't into economics or got into daytrading through tech are the nerds that aren't smart and are into it because they believe in a transhumanist fantasy popularized by video games, movies, TV and other "fun" shit that isn't substantive in real life. Everyone loved black mirror. Everyone loved star trek. 99% of the bullshit in those shows is literally impossible to create in real life due to limitations that can't be solved with tinier microchips

>>
>>62349154
If that project freedom thing is even real the only ships taking them up on the offer are either related to israel like that MSC boat or part of the US merchant marine. Not enough tankers in the merchant marine to change the global economy. That ship sailed (HAHA!) after all the liberty ships built for WWII started rusting out and getting scrapped and shit in the 70's and other countries took over shipbuilding like south korea, china or germany

in 2001 as a high schooler I ran a JavaScript bot that played Diablo 2 all day while I was at school and cherrypicked items that I resold for IRL money online. I had it tuned to a nearly 100% success rate where it could run for 12+ hours straight with zero failed runs.

ROM is good
but the volatility is going to be rough even at 2x. Tech is volatile without leverage as is.
if you go ROM diversify out of tech with the rest of your portfolio
that means avoid QQQ or leveraged variants with tech concentration

but tech leads almost every year. There as only like 2 years in the last 20 years that tech didn't lead in performance.

If you're feeling like you want to take on risk
>60% VFMF
>40% ROM

I was considering SPXT, but you'd be concentrated as fuck in the mega caps with that.
>>
>>62349188
I use to do this with RuneScape.
>>
>>62349230
>>62349139

notice these two funds greatly underweight tech and are broad market with diversified holdings.
