lol so the Kimi K3 opensource model is pretty much on par with the frontier models from the US. At this point it's pretty obvious that these AI companies have zero moat. >>
>>62493548

>>
>>62493876

Best part is that China will keep on assfucking the US AI sector, because that's their entire goal with the open source models.
At this rate it won't be long until open source AI becomes so good, that everyone will just build local clusters and all of these big ass companies become more or less obsolete, as there's no need to use their services anymore.
It will make the hardware markets boom even harder though.
Semiconductor sales will explode multiple times higher as every business rushes to build their own systems.

>Businesses can run the Kimi model inhouse and get Claude-like performance without having to pay Anthropic billions for the privilege of sending them all their IP.
Sure anon. I'm sure all those businesses are going to find 3TB of VRAM to run the model locally and host it themselves.
They can't be bothered to save money hosting a website on premise with a cheap ass refurbed server, but they'll definitely plunk down, let's see here they need 16 b200's, so $50k*16 about $1,000,000 on just GPUs alone, and then power, the CPU and the RAM for this server rack, bla bla bla, yeah, i'm sure every business is just chomping at the bit to pay more than 2 million bucks instead of buying a few hundred grand worth of tokens from a reputable company to run some Chinese model.

>>
>>62493920
When the alternative is sending all their data to some third-party company, they absolutely will spend $1 million. That amount is a rounding error for large businesses which will probably pay for itself in a couple years.
>>
Well, I don't mind the line going down too much in itself, but questioning whether it'll ever come back again is pretty nerve wrecking.

I guess I get the appeal of just buying and holding ETF's even more now.
>>
>>62493876
Yes, pretty sure this is what caused the dump. Although I'm a bit sceptical of the benchmarks of the model. Chinese are known to target benchmarks in many fields owing to their long history of standardized testing, but they struggle with general knowledge. If this precipitates a long term dump then small cap value is the shelter imo.
>>
>>62493920
I think there might be other server providers
that service chinese AIs much cheaper
as they don't need to mend the loss from developing AIs and just can use chinese AIs.
But I am not sure.
Small providers would have trust issues.

Do you have the slightest idea how little 1 mil is for any real business? Especially when it leads to savings in workforce.
Even your average small family run restaurant quickly eats up 1 mil in expenses, that's absolutely nothing.
Besides you can build a system capable of running this model for under a mil.

>>62493930

Yes, that's the direction.
Service based AI systems aren't sustainable in the long run in first world countries. Especially considering the smaller models are becoming radically more intelligent by the day.
Modern small models that run on your system or even a phone mog the fuck out of early ChatGPT models and those were at the frontier just few years ago.
It won't be long until we're in that "good enough" place for most people using small local models.
Maybe third world businesses are still going to use AI cloud services, but it won't be anything like it currently is.
My longer term prediction is that we'll have AI on a chip type thing, where it'll run lightning fast on dedicated purpose built chip.

You betray your lack of understanding with every post. Businesses can and do encrypt their data before storing it on the cloud. How are you going to encrypt prompts to Claude? I didn't say anything about VRAM, you're the one who brings that up as if you needed to fit the entire fucker on GPU memory.
I said a system that can run it.
You can absolutely get 3TB of memory for under a mil.
And the bandwidths in server parts are far higher than the cucked consumer grade we get.
Hell if you really wanted it for cheap, you could buy 30x GDX sparks for 150k and string them together.
They're seriously bandwidth limited and a spectacularly shit deal because of it, but you could still do it.

The real issue is its not a one time cost 1 million dollars per company. Parts will have to be replaced over time and more importantly that's a million per ai computer. What's the ratio of employees per AI computers you need/want? And what happens if a new model ces out that needs even more VRAM?

Kimi is ass as anyone with a bit of knowledge on the subject will know.

It’s been the top for creative writing even prior to this but it spits out absolute dogshit prose compared to Claude or even deepsneed.

It’s just good at hacking benchmarks in the same way that Gemini does to appear remotely comparable to Claude’s model family.

The money men are just looking for an excuse so that they can shift the narrative later on with bull news.

If they weren’t so stupid and petty and greedy they wouldn’t have lost control before it was time.

It's a 1.8 Trillion parameter model anon. You can load little toy AI onto those 5090s, but not a big boy model like kimi-k3.

Those hypotheticals simply can't be answered without asking corporations that actually use these AI systems.

But considering how people have been buying even +10 year old hardware at such rates the used prices have in some cases done nearly 10x, I think it's pretty safe to say we're not looking at hardware growing obsolete.
You can just hoard more of it.
And like I pointed out about smaller models growing more intelligent over time, you can now run a model on your phone that's smarter than what the frontier used to be.
Granted they're still dumb as fuck, but the point stands.
I'd say that Kimi/Fable tier is truly good enough for a lot of companies to replace workers with.
Models of that intelligence level are only going to become smaller, more efficient and more widespread as time goes on and frontier simultaneously grows smarter.

>>62494027

If you build your business on relying on one of these turbo kike companies, you're living on razors edge.
They already pulled price increases in the past and removed subscription tiers.
You might find yourself paying retarded prices out of the blue and you're forced to do it.
And ff they for any reason get shut down by the government, because of regulatory reasons or some other jewish bullshit, your business is now fucked overnight.
Alternative is that you just spend that mil and build the systems and don't have to worry about this at all.

Anons who know what they are doing please help.

A lot of my coworkers are all into investing now, some new like me, some arent. The one guy constantly in the green is some 45 year old dude who started at 18. Hes helped me but I dont wanna bother him or get handouts too much. Everyone else around me acts like anons here and on socials, 45 year old is more straight and secure and is killing it. I mean some of these people got fucked jumping into tech.

He does a lot with dividends, blue chip stock, told me invest in things that have very tried and true longevity, wide reach, and not something some other company could realistically go against and remove value.

Dude said I should invest in major banks, and pepsi, stocks like that, never sell, use dividends to buy more.

Any anons have any insight about this stuff? Id appreciate any terminology or resources on the kind of investing this giy im talking about does, its the exact kind of thing I want to do

You have 3 options.
A. You bogglehead, safe and secure, you are pretty much gaurenteed to 10x your money in 30 years. If you want to be a millionaire it works. Many call it the smartest move. That dude sounds like a retard bogglehead. Just buy VOO and chill.
B. If A is the smartest move, wouldnt 2x or 3x A be smarter. This is where Im leaning now. Buy a leveraged ETF. 2x SSO survived 2007, and 14x in 20 years. DCA and you'd be a millionaire in 15.
C. Who's got 15 years? Single stocks 100x all the time. You really should have soon Google or Nvidia comming. Come join us, being a fambling degen is fun!
Real answer in IMO is mix and match. If A is bigbrain, do 70% that, 20% letfs to hurry things along, and 10% stocks to prove your still a man.

Be careful with revenge trading and prediction markets. Blew up my account 2 days ago. Lost half of my portfolio during the Iran war shenanigans we had to suffer. All that constant pumping. Then, this week, I decided to take the easy path and tried prediction markets. I was really confident about England winning this world cup. 15k to England winning Argentina. And my last 10k to England winning the world cup. Everything was going great until Argentina scored 2 goals in the last minutes.

I had 95k in January. 2 days ago I lost it all. I juiced up my account with my credit card but Jesuschrist, I feel spiritually knackered.

But I will keep trying. No more prediction markets though

The issue here is that volatility can fuck you. So it only makes sense if you expect a smooth ride up. For an easy example a stock dropping 34% in one day and does a 10x the next day leaves a non leveraged person quite well off but fucks you to 0 if your 3x leveraged. Obviously such spikes wont happen on any normal stock but the principle remains the same.

Ive had this discussion adnaseum with my friends who all became faggot boggleheads when they hit a million. I get the math problems but looking at how UPRO, SSO, and TQQQ performed something is not lining up. It obviously not only worked, it worked unimaginably spectacularly. I get it was a golden bull run but we really could continue, and even if we dont 50% or 25% of the same results would be more than good enough.
So I fully respect the psychological arguments. I myself pussied out of 125000 shares of SOXL at $22, but the decay and chop arguments I think are very much overblown.
IDK, this is where Im leaning these days, love talking about it.

I'm seething hard enough at this point that I'd rather just see it dump than pump. Ironic considering my bullidh holdings, but I've been screwed hard enough that I don't care dump it. Dump SOXL back to sub $50. At least then the markets are far more stable.

I like short term holds of QLD and realizing gains when the market feels toppy.

2x are alright. 3x are retarded to long. either way you should be trying to time quick realized gains with this shit not aping a fucking 3x for 5 years like a mongoloid just absorbing 90% drawdowns like an emotionless retard zombie

right before TSM earnings*
my guess isthe hedgies and instituiongot antsy because they know one of retail's mantras is "buy the every dip" so if they wait too long their fire sale prices they were waiting on would dry up
either that or things worked out roughly exactly as they planned
regardless, it turnt around

ps
it seems i might actually hit my PT

quantum computers don't exist for any useful purpose, and the examples we have are purely for research

I think we'll still use shared servers for models above 4B (very expensive hardware needs to be kept busy 100% of the time, it produces a ton of heat too and it's bad for battery and weight).
But Western models hit diminishing returns a year ago and the Chinese managed to make large but not gigantic models work and run for cheap. They are winning the AI race but they are open weights so we can just use them too. They charge a literal tenth to run them, with comparable results. The only Western model maker who can barely compete is Gemini, not on the Pro line at all, but on Flash, just because Flash is acceptabe and outperforms the more expensive Sonnet and everything from OpenAI that's not 10x as expensive.
