>comfiest weeks of my life go by

This shit is so broken. Legitimately am going to be full porting into IC's soon. Don't know if I'll ever hold stock again honestly.
There's tons of 20% premium/collateral plays that are like 20% otm on both sides of the spot price. Full port on a 30dte setup is a 20% month, and if there's any fear of the spot getting anywhere to close to one of the strikes you just close the losing spread which just turns your 20% month into an 7-10% month.
It is seriously impossible to describe how comfy it feels not needing a direction to happen. Red day green day, doesn't matter. As long as it expires with the spot somewhere in that 40% range it wins.

Have 20 out on GOOGL, 30dte with a range of 315 and 420. $2000 in premium.
And then experimented with some 14dte on MSFT last week, range 350 and 440, and the premium collapse 70% in one fucking week.
Also testing on GLD cause a point strike difference felt comfy not tying up a lot of collateral per position but I have realized that it doesn't really matter the distance between the strikes, 1 or 5 points, so long as it's 20% prem/collateral and a huge range that won't be breached.
Liquidity is a bitch though. Have to scale in in batches of 1 because if you try to sell 5 at a time that's 20 orders that need to be filled on OTM options all at the same or it doesn't go.

>>62503754

>>62503765
>range
Im confused just how far is the spread on both sides. Teach me like a retard, like for example use your Google position. What was the stock price, or thereabout, when you opened the positions? Just how much are you putting in to even open this?

For example I just tried the below. Is that how you do it?
Google
Expiration: 8/21
Name: Short Iron Condor (thats the correct type right?)
Call Side: Sell Call 370, Buy Call 375
Put Side: Sell Put 330, Buy Put 325
Credit: $2.88
Max Profit: $288
Max Loss: $212
Collateral: $500

So if I risk $5000, then that is
Max Profit: $2880
Max Loss: $2120

Is that how you do it? It just stays within the range and you win? It feels a little too easy, what risk am I overlooking? Because this can achieve my neetdom with far less money but it just feels like there is some massive overlooked risk.

Exit the trade early at 50% profit or 21 DTE so you don't get gamma squeeze d. Expiration should be 30-45 DTE to start. Target 0.10-0.15 deltas on the short strike, 0.05-0.10 deltas on long strike then adjust the strikes to ones with lots of OI. If you start the trade on name going into earnings you can also profit off of increased IV, but usually a calendar spread or double calendar spread is better for earnings plays.
>>
>>62503803
>Is that how you do it?
That's right. I opened mine when it was around 370 and the short legs (the sold legs) were at strikes 420 on the top and 315 on the bottom.
And then yes, as long as it expires anywhere within that range you collect the full premium. Or if you want you can not wait for expiration and leave a little on the table, buying to close for like 70-90% premium if you like.
Also if it starts moving towards one side and you're nervous it will breach the short strike (one closer to the spot price) you can just buy to close that side for a loss that does nothing but take away from the total premium you were paid at the beginning, with The Winning Side absolutely guaranteed with that much distance. So instead of say $2000 from the full, you close the losing side for say a $1200 loss but keep the $800 from the winning side.
Really a talk to a llm about this stuff though so you thoroughly understand the mechanics, as well as the risks. Max loss is not the main thing to be aware of, but being exercised. Because for instance if you sell 20 contracts, that's 2,000 shares you have an obligation on. It's not as scary as it sounds but you do need to learn how a broker handles an exercise.

>>62503831
Honestly yeah I don't think I will be on GLD again, just because it has had major moves in the past that would wipe out even the largest ranges. Will probably just stick to Google or something similar if I find a better play. Something where an untelegraphed 10-20% move in like a week is practically unheard of
>>
>>62503832
Only time you're getting exercised early when it is still otm is usually if the person wants to collect dividends. But that's only if the collected dividends are more than both the value of the contracts as well as the insane fucking loss of exercising otm contracts

>did the 2008 crash also happen on no news?
2008 crash started slowly in late 2005 early 2006 when NINJA loan owners started defaulting because they had no money anyway. But as the defaults kept increasing the mortgage machine kept turning and people kept buying and flipping houses. The mortgages were sold, grouped, sliced and diced and tracked by MERS so no one really knew who owned them anymore. I recall listening to a radio interview of a young guy whose investor buddies got together and bought a 100,000,000 MBS (first time I hear that term) and he said a month later it was worth only 90 million. That was late 2007. Stareted slow but accelrated throughout 2008 with some bankruptices then it was the end of the world late 2008 and early 2009. None of it affected me becasue I was not flipping houses or buying mortgages. You could see the signs that something was wrong, but like I said it did not affect me, like a giant earthquake thousands of miles away. Its worth watching s some documentaries on the collpase of Lehmand and Bear Sterns and realize its a game of musical chairs and the rich alwasy get the best seat. Lehman specifically failed over night because of Dick Fuld and repo 105, they did not have enough cash, tooooo much leverage, and no one wanted their shit MBS as collateral. In September 2019 there was a near financial catastrophe and the Fed had to step in to keep the markets from collapsing again and pay out hundreds of billions in overnight night repo and reverse repo loans. Then it was quickly burried.

No problem, just dip your toe in and go slow to see how things move. The spreads are absolutely insane as well, like a range of 30 on the bid and 200 on the ask. For this reason absolutely never Market order. It can also take time to fill an order so be patient as there needs to be for transactions all at the same time to fill even a single condor. If you try to do 5 or 10 at a time it might not happen, but who knows I've had them fill.
Also something to be aware of and not freak out about is that in the first and last about 5 minutes of the trading day market makers widen their spread dramatically and so you will see big red and big green numbers on your net liquidity number. So don't worry about it, it's literally the most paper of paper losses completely non-existent. The next day you'll see them snap back to where they were in the middle of the previous day. Just have to take a number from the middle of the day if you want to ding post because eod your shit will look totally scuffed.

From Wikipedia
>The position is so named because of the shape of the profit/loss graph, which replicates that of a condor but with a different combination of options. Traders often refer to the inner options collectively as the "body" and the outer options as the "wings". The word iron in the name of this position indicates that, like an iron butterfly, this position is constructed using both calls and puts, by combining a bull put spread with a bear call spread.

Luck is a skill.
You have to make active choices to put yourself in a situation where you can be serendipitous. Flipping burgers isn't going to make you connected. Attending social events does, for example. it might take 3 years but shit like NXLV.V is gonna generate enough cash to equal its market cap so basically 2x in 3 years thanks to the magic of share buybacks
DC.A is similar but this one relies on gold staying elevated over the next 5-10 years since it's basically just the same crew from DPM who are turning the holding co into a mine operator (the holding co was really badly managed and held shit like cattle farms or something so the past 5 years was just cleaning that all up first), around 40% NAV discount right now
>>

I should elaborate that my copper and silver outlook is for the next 5 years, and the global equity lets me have diversification so I can have a bit more aggressive concentration on US stuff.

I had a good start to the year then fumbled it by buying an 85 delta call on a silver miner near the top and I'm down about $5k from that.
New rules for my options plays is 2% risk, 90 day outlook, buy deep ITM at 270 dte, and ideally a liquid ticker (index , sector, or bluechip, on something I already own)

Idk but I'll fine with it. Not selling these bags until I'm made as whole as possible. Everything will be fine if I get back to complete wholeness again. Was about half way to my smallest goal that will allow neetdom.

I dont know whats up with september but it's always my worst month
>>
>>62504193
Please tell me you
a) you have good karma for the universe to listen to you
b) "made whole" means you bought MU at 1200 or higher and want to break even

You sound like you're just a seething boomer that
>hates people who use Robinhood
>hates that people gamble on stocks/options and some succeed in 1 year what took you a lifetime
>pretends all success stories are made up

And of course your entire personality, as is typical of boomers, revolves around your head canon of being a pro-trader despite retiring at the same time as all the other baby boomers who never once paid the stock market any mind.
>>
>>62504187
leftie korean government said they want to keep all the profit from sk and samsung to themselves and that shareholders deserve nothing
very bullish

What stage is this?
>>
>>62504175
most people who get rich do so quickly

if you're talking about getting enough to buy a raised ranch tract housing development property to retire to in arizona, yes that takes time and many withering years, boomersama

Looking for cryogenic and US mining penny stocks. I have $4 to and want to spend it on some stocks. Going to do some research and see what I find. Will report back tomorrow.

most people who get rich start a business and work at it 10 years or invest conservatively for 30 years. 1 in a million get rich quick
>>
>>62504205
How the fuck is that bullish? Wouldn't that dump SK Hynix and Samsung? I certainly wouldn't want to hold shares in either if that's what happens to any stock that does well. Lmao imagine going through all the risks of making a business and then getting penalized for being too successful. Sure seems like Europe tier standards there. Odds they move their HQs overseas? Europe has lost so much industry from what I understand of their situation, so I kinda expect the same in Korea with that behavior.

>>62504215
I would take that 4 whole dollars and put it all on bayhorse silver like Dave Ramsey always says

Did you short them? Don't trend chase and it doesn't happen. You have to anticipate trends more than participate in an ongoing one.

>Does it at least give dividends in case it doesnt pump?
share buybacks are better tho

NXLV.V has a (tiny) dividend only because it was a legacy from previous management, it's actually why theyre in a position to keep buying more real estate during a shitty market (for real estate)
there are plenty of other REITs that are trading at a NAV discount but a lot of them are cashflow negative or at least very restricted because they have largely unsustainable dividends
NXLV.V is acting more like a regular company than a REIT

DC.A is purely a holding co. that's slowly converting itself into a mine operator so it can close the NAV discount on its own by just generating more cash to buy shares back. ideally though it "grows" explosively like DPM

No, not exactly. Bought into Micron at $1200 during that bait bull trap that resulted from whatever random deal, and cut my losses at $1040. Then, I went into SNDQ when it was at $3.11 when people weren't so keen on dumping and got short-squeezed. I didn't expect to recover and make a killing if I just held for to more days. It bloody gapped down 10% that day, feigning a rebound for the memory sector.
