The US is actually fairly energy independent, now and China has a massive strategic reserve and control over refineries. I think, though I don't know, a lot of the management of the price of oil is actually China and not so much the tweets and axios media manipulation, desu. But the macro environment is such that there is a massive capacity to absorb an oil shock. I don't know why this shock, despite being a lot bigger, didn't seem as impactful as the shock following Russia's full scale invasion of Ukraine. But it might be that the shock is still reverberating around, it might just be trader psychology, it might be China learned something from the UKR shock, or had different strategic objectives.Anyway, someone will write a book on this eventually. I haven't heard of anyone who's predicted even a large percentage of the way this shit has all unfolded.
