Say your Japan. Say you have about 1.3 Trillion in reserves of the nation in banks, pension funds, central banks. And that market is actually completely illiquid (why do you think they are trying to prop up the Yen so they dont sell US Treasuries?). And if in any stress selling these reserves would actually crash the market in those bonds?

What's the ACTUAL marked to market value of those reserves by the way? If they aren't what they a marked on paper as. Well that means their entire banking system is INSOLVENT. Pension companies INSOLVENT. This is why nations are trying to swap them slowly for gold without causing a run for the exits or attracting the ire and eyes of the US.

This is what happens with a monetary built on debt. Its always a house of cards at some point. So they cant sell. Need liquidity to save their drowning currency (Their debt is even worse than US). The whole point of having reserves is that they are liquid in a global market and you can sell to save your own banks, currency etc. US Treasuries are clearly now illiquid. And we could be seeing a nightmare scenario soon of forced selling in Japan in the energy crisis peaks soon in Asia (and it will).

Watch the USD/JPY. Its the weakest link. Its the canary in the coalmine. Its no coincidence gold has begun its reverse from the new base at the same time as the Fed intervened to try force Japan to not sell treasuries. Why? Because there are NO FUCKING BUYERS at these prices. And they know rates would have to go double digits for new debt issued if they get marked to the actual market. There's a real panic at the Fed now. Intervention never works. Its a sign of fear and stress. And a lot of the world is holding this over priced trash and their banks solvency is completely dependent on it.

Just took profits on a bunch of shit I bought near the bottom a couple weeks ago.

for my portfolio, I've been trading shit on margin doing short term swings. It's been a nice little extra income for my portfolio. They're not huge positions bcause I don't get to get stuck holding bags on margin when the bottom falls out. I might be able to get 2%-5% extra performance on my portfolio doing this. If I can pull this off very couple of weeks it adds up.

And the margin costs, holding shit for 2 weeks on margin before taking profits is miniscule. It would be different if I held them for a whole year, then it wouldn't be worth the margin interest.

>>62580828

So the Fed buys everything globally. Blows out its balance sheet. This is called pure monetization of debt by the way. What do you think the holders of those bonds. Who have just received hundreds of billions of paper dollars are gonna buy!!

Fucking more treasuries? They are going to buy Hard Assets. Aka. Sell their dollars for those assets and the system will be absolutely flooded with sellers of paper dollars and buyers of hard assets and gold at the sovereign level to defend their own banks and currency.

Guess what that's gonna do to the price of things. The price of commodities. It ALWAYS ends this way. If people are dumping the treasuries why the hell will they hold the paper?!

You do understand that would be disastrous for the market. It would trigger the destruction of the regions whole infrastructure and a collapse in Japan that would start the dominos falling.

Japan’s Hormuz problem isn’t just “oil gets expensive.” Japan imports nearly all its energy, so a prolonged shutdown means burning dollars to buy scarce fuel while the yen gets hammered. To defend the yen/pay for imports, Japan may have to sell its huge pile of US Treasuries.

Now imagine Treasury liquidity is already bad and they have to dump bonds at a 10-15% discount. That doesn’t just vaporize tens of billions from Japan’s reserves; it reprices everyone else’s Treasuries too. Japanese banks and insurers also own mountains of US bonds. Falling prices = balance-sheet losses, collateral calls and pressure to sell more assets.

Then you get the death spiral: energy crisis -> weak yen -> Treasury sales -> UST yields spike -> Japanese banks/insurers take losses -> forced deleveraging -> more UST/JGB selling -> tighter dollar funding -> weaker yen again.

This is why the Fed would rather lend Japan dollars against Treasuries than watch them fire-sale the bonds. The real risk isn’t Japan “running out of reserves.” It’s Japan turning an energy/import crisis into a Treasury-market and banking crisis at the same time.

Your stupid comment would set the global bond market. And eventually equity markets on fire. And I will be rich. Because I bought hard assets and commodity equities. Why are you so aggressively fucking thick?

>I see that Representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran are asking for compensation for the damage done to them during the last five month Military Conflict (started because, THEY WILL NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON), even though it was never mentioned in any of our negotiations or meetings! But it is an interesting idea because now I am likewise demanding compensation from Iran, for all of the people that they have killed and gravely wounded with their roadside bombs and many conflicts, for which they are famous, as led initially by General Soleimani, including the families of those killed on the USS Cole, and thousands of others killed in combat. Additionally, compensation should be paid to the families of the hundreds of thousands of innocent protestors that Iran has killed over the last 50 years, not to mention the 52,000 that have been killed in the last five months. I have instructed my representatives to put this firmly into any, and all, future negotiations. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Japan also has mountains of international equities to sell. At the minute they're at risk of selling US bonds but it's much more hardened than people realise, not least as a weakening Yen only makes the giant corporation more powerful and its own debt is majority owned domestically.

Tokyo has problems but in reality the only thing that will rock them would be China going into structural implosion over 27/28 but that hasn't happened yet.

The why wont the Fed let them sell? If the market is liquid. If they have all these bonds and equities. Why the need for swap-lines/credit facility? Why?? Dont give me that shit Bessent was peddling about forex markets

By propping up the yen, the US and Japan are admitting dollar dominance isn't what it used to be. Look at the Japanese insurers losses on these bonds. And its accelerating. Intervention never works. Japan at some point will have to stem the blood loss and save themselves.

But nobody is selling gold. Only buying. And the bond damn has yet to break. This is why the potential in minors is still so mispriced for the years ahead. If Japan starts. And it will have to capitulate eventually if it wants to save their currency to some degree (maybe they dont? default and start again? might be only option). Then 10,000 gold is easy.

For some time yet they can still pawn it off onto pension funds they control, the hedgies in the caymans (who hold the most us debt)(which they only found out about this year, they claim), banks via the rule changes to capitalization, and money market funds.

Then you get the death spiral: energy crisis -> weak yen -> Treasury sales -> UST yields spike -> Japanese banks/insurers take losses -> forced deleveraging -> more UST/JGB selling -> tighter dollar funding -> weaker yen again.

And what happens to the dollars (when you sell treasuries buy/swap for dollars). Then they are used for either;

1. Sell dollars buy Yen (save the currency/drive down energy).
2. Sell the dollars buy energy (bid up the dwindling oil/refined products).
3. Sell the dollars buy hard/assets (put a backstop on the banks, insurers balance sheets).

That would be the basic setup to begin to stop the rot. In a bond bear market. What other asset is there that can "absorb" all that paper? Only gold. Because its final settlement and has NO counter party risk. Therefore is ideal and can "absorb" the transferred value of all the declining credit. And that's all this stuff is. Credit. In a bubble. And when they pop. The value always "flows" back to gold because of (i will say it again). Its final settlement, no counter party, globally liquid.

Now I'm not silver stacktard or gold obsessive. But the leverage/torque ahead is clearly in solid equities, PMs, Copper, critical minerals and energy. Just keep at least 10% physical in case of the worst scenario as a disaster hedge.

Its would be a very painful global deleveraging. Very. Those treasuries are the basis for much of the worlds bank reserves. But in the end would clear the dead wood. As always happens. There will be fortunes made and lost for sure.

But you have struck at the key point now. If the US owes the world trillions in IOUs? Who's problem is that really? Not the US i think eventually. After pain they could have a very clean sheet and retain the majority of power and structure it was all used to build.

Its not at that point of vicious self national interest. But its heading that way. Its like the old saying. If you owe the bank a thousand dollars. Its your problem. If you owe them a million, its their problem.

Which are SHIT because the government forces companies to buy them to "hedge risk" when the reality is that they probably have NEGATIVE BONDS on the books because Japan is run by RETARDS. The only way to save that shit would be for Japan to go back to having like a -1% interest rate.

Nice reddit spacing. Again, THESE ARE JAPANESE BONDS THAT WERE ISSUED AT 0 TO NEGATIVE PERCENT Rates.
They could dump all the USD bonds in the world and it would still NOT GET JAPANESE BOND RATES BACK INTO THE NEGATIVES. Look at what happened to FRCB. They bought a shitload of US bonds that were sub 2% that were basically worthless after the fed finally started cranking rates again after inflation.
Now, explain to me, using your dumb pea sized brain, how you could get jap rates under 0% again to save these bonds.

Nobody said JGB yields have to go back to fucking zero. That's the part you're not getting. Bond losses are mark-to-market. If a Japanese insurer is sitting on a long-duration JGB book and yields fall from 3% to 2%, those bonds can gain ~10–15% in value. They're still underwater versus issuance, but the hole in the balance sheet just got massively smaller. If Japan is under currency/liquidity stress, selling foreign assets/USTs and repatriating capital means USTs sold dollars sold yen bought. If some of that capital moves into JGBs, that's additional JGB demand and downward pressure on yields.

So you can simultaneously strengthen the yen and reduce JGB MTM losses while exporting some yield pressure to the US. And FRC is a hilarious example to use against this argument because FRC demonstrates exactly why duration losses become dangerous when liquidity pressure turns paper losses into forced realized losses. Nobody needs a time machine back to NIRP. They need marginal repricing and liquidity. That's the entire fucking point. NOW STOP REPLYING. You oxygen thief.

Let me give you guys some advice for your hedges, but it's too late for energy now, though.

Keep a gold and energy hedge
when oil falls below $60, lever it up. 2x, or even 3x
3.5% energy, at 2x exposure is 7%, and at 3x it's 10.5%. So with a small allocation of 3%, you can leverage energy with enough exposure to have a noticeable effect on your portfolio

though, right now, oil is above $80 so it's too late to do it with energy. However, it's not too late with gold.

Just remember this whenver gold and oil are cheap.
If oil falls below $50, I mean, why not? It won't hurt, and you get a hedge.. For now, just wait for oil to fall below $70 and maybe consider taking it as a hedge then

One note. For energy, I don't mean buying oil futures. I mean buying oil equities, like the majors. For gold, I don't mean gold minors. Look at UGL, and UGLD. Minors don't trade inverse to stocks as well as the commodity futures.

Even though everything is down today, oil is up like 5%, and I'm up almost 1% today mostly because of my energy hedge, though my other hedges like gold are pulling their weight as well.
