Be aware of tomorrow, screencap this if u want.I talked to one of my bulge bracket bank PBs. expect historic-level margin calls tomorrow.

Most people don't know that banks can't see intra-day moves for funds. They take a snapshot EOD and issue calls the following day. Quant funds and MMs not having fun.

The most likely time the strike will occur (as Iran and the global public already knows about it,so it has to happen asap) is after 6:30 PM tomorrow.

The difference is in this case the U.S. has to go for the gusto. They can’t afford to waste any more time if they’re going to do it. The moon cycles align (moonless nights, darkness the military likes to operate in). The news aligns. The troop movements align. This will be big.

The big tech oligarchy used to be their biggest donors by a mile. Are they going to fund their own demise now or are they going to pivot towards republicans for the first time ever?

Musk is also treated as a complete pariah by the left because of his open support of the republican party. The CEOs of Microsoft, Google, Meta, Amazon etc have historically always financially supported the democrats far more than republicans and have given them material support on their platforms through favorable ads and silencing republican voices, which now would go completely against their own bottom line, so it certainly will be interesting to see how that will affect fund raising for the dems in 2028.

>Everyday investors sold a net $358 million in individual US stocks on Thursday as of 2:58 p.m. ET, according to Vanda Research, putting them on track for their biggest single-day net selling spree since March 17, 2020, when retail investors pulled $502 million from individual stocks.
>Retail selling marks something of a departure from a tendency by individual investors in recent years to scoop up shares when markets tumble. Vanda said there were "no signs of buying the dip" in individual stocks, though some investors continued to purchase leveraged exchange-traded funds such as ProShares UltraPro QQQ (TQQQ) and Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull 3X Shares (SOXL).

Neither the "AI race" or "space race" are anywhere close to over. The main other contestant in these races is China which is still in the revving up phase, similar to where China was with EVs 10 years ago or solar panels 15 years ago. There's at least 15 reusable rockets under development in China, including at least 3 Starship clones. Launch pads, rocket factories and engine test stands are popping up like mushrooms after rain all over China.

In terms of vanity missions, China is arguably ahead of the US in the "race" to return to the moon and build a moon base (because New Glenn blew up its pad + the Chinese are using safer & more conservative technical solutions than SpaceX is) as well as the "race" to retrieve samples from Mars

Iran is not a forever war though. People keep comparing it to Ukraine vs Russia, but forget the fact that Ukraine is being supported by trillions of $ from the west, whereis Iran's economy is completely devastated, they have no more money coming in since no oil can get out and they have been abandoned by all of their allies.

USA is so overpowered that their homeless have iphones. It was wild. It was wild.

Why would someone vote for weird socialists like AoC or that muslim dude when you're so superior?

Trump won a second term in a backlash to Biden era inflation. His popularity started collapsing with the tariffs. Very unpopular when his mandate was to bring prices down. The Iran war was a second hit. Most people didn't support it, and those that initially did are now angry at him for sitting around jacking his dick for half a year while the oil runs out instead of carpet bombing to end it. Then add on top sending ICE agents around to harass random people in the street for looking like potential illegal immigrants - people want the illegals removed, but not in this manner.

Voters are rationally angry, and that anger unleashed an anti-incumbent wave even if some of the Democrat candidates were far worse and we're going from a frying pan into the fire if the socialist wing of that party takes the wheel.

the dotcom bubble had America spend so much money on fiber that its still not even remotely close to being fully utilized. I'm sure you've heard arguments about how American internet connections are slow and have data caps because its actually a really big country so it costs a lot of build out the infrastructure. Its all bullshit cope. The sole reason why American internet has been lagging behind countries like Romania is because nobody bothered connecting the residential properties to the fibers and instead routed everything through the existing cable intrastructure which gave local cable companies a monopoly on internet services.

>>
>>62864268
In the short term, it's bullish because we can declare victory and go home, Iran might tantrum for a bit but everyone has to get back to business of exporting, including them.

In the long term, it makes a more full blown nuclear war more likely because it weakens the taboo on nuke use, which would be very, very bad. However, as an investor you need to invest for the non-apocalypse scenarios because in an apocalypse scenario we're all dead anyway.

Who so far have no path to profitability after a trillion dollars spent. These companies which require more electricity than the US grid currently produces to power data centers full of chips that don't yet exist, to run theoretical software that is forever 2 more weeks from revolutionizing the economy. Oh so you're saying when you said "fiber has nothing to do with the dotcom bubble" what you actually meant was "yes half a trillion dollars was spent on fiber and that entire thing was a giant bubble that eventually popped and bankrupted a bunch of companies"

The midterms are over, the political price has been paid already. There is no real incentive for Trump to back down over the next election. It's about the history books now, and the history books will paint him poorly if he goes for a negotiated peace unfavorable to America. Either Iran is going to accept a worse deal than they could have gotten before the midterms (unlikely) or we're bombing.

Which is not really a reason to be bearish US markets. We're an energy exporter now. It is a reason to be overweight energy incase Iran retaliates against the gulf countries.
>>
>>62864398
The war changed everything for them since they can no longer export oil. Iran isnt just slightly poorer, they literally have no more economy whatsoever.
>>
>>62864411
They still have their nuclear facilities and uranium.

If trump was gunna risk a lame duck presidency he should've probably comitted more to hormuz

dial up which funded the dotcom bubble made stupid business decisions because dial up had no path forward. the people giving money to the tech leaders, dial up, couldn't because they had no path forward. fiber is a side effect of that problem.

Market/demand (call-only, this week): customer funding 90% of GPU capex; short-term deal at $40M/MW; same frontier AI lab from a few months ago expanded again; older H100s re-contracted at 2× original price. Framing market dislocation vs “demand never stronger.”

I have not heard about this starvation in Iran, and I don't see why it would happen. Iran is close to self sufficient in wheat (which is the main staple crop) as well as fuel and nitrogen fertilizer.
https://apps.fas.usda.gov/psdonline/app/index.html#/app/advQuery

Iran has long had high inflation and it has only gotten worse, because the Iranian government uses debasement of the currency to boost military spending, so high inflation is not necessarily a sign of some kind of system collapse.

High fuel prices is not just an economic inconvenience for the US, because every day hydrocarbon prices remain elevated, hydrocarbons become more discredited, and the world increasingly wants alternative technical solutions, for which China is the primary supplier.

I would say everyone is losing in the Iran war, however, the people who argue Iran is "winning" often do so because Iran is changing the geopolitical situation around it, and furthermore Iran running out the clock because the US is a power in (relative) decline
>>
>>62864445
no it played no part. dial up had no way to generate revenue and threw it all away on a last ditch effort to save their business. dial up going the way of the dodo was the dotcom bubble
>>
>>62864432
Wait, wasn't your talking point supposed to be that Iran was never trying to enrich uranium in the first place and that this war was started for unjust reasons? So now you basically admit that Iran was trying to build a nuclear bomb and your argument is "akschually, joke's on you, the US never destroyed their nuclear facilities and they are still working in the deepest parts of Mount Doom on their nukes."
>>
>>62864059
why would algos care if circuit breakers hit or not
>>
>>62864459
>no it played no part.
Yeah expect the part where companies spent half a trillion dollars on borrowing money to put the fucking fiber into the ground.

Iran never had much of a navy. Iran's navy was not much more than a glorified coast guard. Likewise, Iran never had much of an air force. It was mostly flying museum pieces.

Missiles and drones is where almost all Iran's military investment went. Iran's main military arms of significance are the IRGC Aerospace Force and the IRGC Navy (which uses speedboats and land-based anti-ship missiles and is not to be confused with the regular Iranian navy)

SOXL ownership causes brain damage

So if I made all my money selling cars and nobody used them anymore and instead they flew everywhere and only flew as the only means of transportation and I as a last ditch effort spent all my money on building new roadways nobody used since I was going belly up along with the auto industry you'd say it was because of roads? Do you realize how dumb you sound

Iran's aim is to be a nuclear threshold state. It has enriched uranium and the ability to enrich more uranium, not to make nuclear bombs, but to have the ability to make nuclear bombs if it turns out it needs nuclear bombs.

The reason to be a nuclear threshold state rather than a nuclear state is to have some nuclear deterrence without suffering all the diplomatic backlash that comes with breaking the NPT. At least, that is the theory.
>>
>>62864484
If you borrowed half a trillion dollars and spent it on buying cars for resale purposes, and that blew up the car companies valuations and then when you went bankrupt the car companies lost most of their market cap, that would be the text book definition of a bubble in the automobile industry.

That's not what they did. Their bread and butter was dial up and they invested in an infrastructure that's competing with a preestablished and highly successful model
>>
>>62864531
>Their bread and butter was dial up
yeah half a trillion dollars was spent laying down fiber, its not a complicated concept. They spent borrowed money on a thing that made them no money. Shockingly enough, they went bankrupt.
>>
>>62864543
They had all the money and they stopped having all the money because dial up dies and cable internet exists. They didn't due because of fiber failure they died because they were dial up with no path forward.
>>
>>62864552
So they didn't actually spend half a trillion dollars laying down fiber?
>>
>>62864518
Dems block AI data centres -> spending on AI chips collapse -> P/E shoots back up because of the lower revenue

Would you say that companies like CISCO's valuations were unrelated to the dotcom bubble?
