Such fascinating symbolism of Rei being the complete opposite of Asuka. Rei has red eyes whereas Asuka has blue. Rei's hair is blue in contrast to Asuka's red hair. She transcends humanity while Asuka is just a mortal. Though in the show both serve more as "veins/arteries" in Shinji's daily life, fueling his willpower to go on. Looking from his perspective I couldn't really imagine the show without Asuka. Her weakness highlights the strength of Rei. While Rei's strength highlights the weakness of Asuka. Looking from any point of view it will always lead back to Rei being the first as she is the first child.
Kissu with Rei

>>4438222Another anon also pointed out that Rei's and Asuka's symbology in Shinji's life was that of an Angel's and a devil's. Which in my opinion is a better interpretation than my veins/arteries one.Asuka tempted and seduced Shinji at the day of his mother's death, pushed him into getting absorbed into Leliel, nearly got both Shinji and Rei killed by leading them right to Matarael which also included the fact that Rei didn't protest against it as to show Shinji where following Asuka would lead him. Whereas Rei did nothing but support Shinji where it was just and wasn't adding fuel to the fire that was consuming his mental health. The fight with the MPE Evas felt like a final triumphant victory over what was standing in the way of humanity's future. A red rebellious humanoid getting speared to death by white humanoids with wings does feel Biblical. As does anything in Eva. I can't deny the similarities.
I've got my eyes on this thread.

>>4438602>Asuka tempted and seduced Shinji at the day of his mother's deathIt's more Asuka crying for affection in a day that reminded her mother death, in Asuka's retarded style of course. Whenever Asuka acts silly or proud it's just her crying for help and to not be abandoned (see ep22 when she gets mad/sad when she rei and shinji talking at the train station). The seduction is more during magma diver episode when she pushes her breasts on his face lol. Or when she is braless and cite "the wall of jericho" showing her cleavage. Many people blame shinji because he didn't understood/reciprocate Asuka causing her pain, but how can a 14yo understands those singals? He had the same issues with Rei (and for Rei was even harder to understand her feelings for Shinji). Even if, it's quite implied Rei and Shinji spent a lot of time together in the last episodes (see ep22 or when Toji understands Rei is worried about Shinji).
>>4438757>It's more Asuka crying for affection in a day that reminded her mother deathUsually when remembering the day when one's mother has died they spend that day mourning. The whole "You don't want to kiss a girl at the day of your mother's death?'' is just a whole new level of disrespect against the dead.>He had the same issues with Rei (and for Rei was even harder to understand her feelings for Shinji).Considering how Rei was entirely supportive of Shinji where it was right to side with him, no. It's a clear choice if one has a perspective of ''good'' or ''evil'' which I guess the show lacked.>Even if, it's quite implied Rei and Shinji spent a lot of time together in the last episodes (see ep22 or when Toji understands Rei is worried about Shinji)Or when Asuka says ''I've lost'' when seeing Rei and Shinji talking at the metro. It also comes down to that both Rei and Asuka seek Shinji's affection and love, but who's attempts cause him more pain? Both good and evil fight to be in control of man but by the fruits you can tell which is which. An immortal being offering an eternity of peace in paradise or a mortal offering a unstable relationship in hell of your own making.Asuka is a sinking ship if you try to save it you'll sink with it.
