Majority of it being focused on the two of them while leaving Rei's whereabouts up for interpretation from the breadcrumbs that were thrown about her daily life. EoE reaffirms Rei's place in the story as the literal "Mother" of humankind. The fight for "Best Girl" is faulty in it's roots. They can't be compared to each other. Without Rei there would be no Asuka. Shame about Shinji.

It felt good. I despised a great part of it solely because of the descisions that Shinji made, but it felt like something I can reminisce of. Rei was a great part of that if not the core reason. There's no Eva without Rei. When you look at Eva threads on /a/ I think they sum up my past fears of the communities that form around such media. Now I just try to look at the brighter side and accept that everything has it's shadow. And the Eva fandom is Eva's shadow that it casts over the internet.

He had access to every human conciousness and memory and he didn't even try to understand the plot of Neon Genesis Evangelion. Not the stupid surface level message about society, but the "Plot" of it all. And it all leads back to Yui. Poor Shinji was Yui's guinne pig as much as he was Gendo's. In the scene where he comes back from Instrumentality he said he doesn't understand Yui's motivations which shows him not bothering to understand. Which gives root to more awful descisions!I liked the Asuka choking scene.

Though in EoE Gendo did push the Adam embryo in that area so who knows. Rei wasn't created to be a houswife, but a key in human form. Having a normal human relationship already seems near impossible. But anything is possible in 2D format so who am I to say.
